-

WHEN it comes to food, we’re always looking for new and exciting flavours to explore, presented to us in a way that we find both appealing and intriguing.

Good at always giving both sides of the coin, Indian cuisine is a firm favourite of Britons and foodies alike. Now, Kottaram restaurant is a new spot you can get your favourite curry with a traditional Indian twist.

The Nottingham-based restaurant opened in October 2022 and offers a new concept and an introduction of Pan-indian cuisine to the vibrant city.

‘Kottaram’ means ‘castle’ in the Indian language of Malayalam and, as the name suggests, offers up delicious food with a difference, fit for a king.

MEET THE CHEFS

At Kottaram, each dish is carefully designed and cooked fresh to order for each and every customer, by the two main chefs:

Visakh Suraj

Chef Visakh has worked for the Taj Group of Hotels, Kempinski Groups, Mahirs, Cosmo, Peachy Keens and was a key role player in the calorie-controlled cuisines of the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham.

He has a passion for flavours and specialises in signature dishes of South India to bring creativity and unique presentations to each dish served at Kottaram.

Amit Kumar

Much like Visakh, chef Amit has a wealth of experience cooking and managing multi-fine dining restaurants like the Taj Hotels, Ashoka Hotels, Tamatanga, and The Maharaja’s Retreat.

He has over ten years of experience in the culinary world and his creativity combined with a passion and energetic love of cooking, provides Kottaram’s dishes with a unique high-quality standard.

A MENU LIKE NO OTHER

The main menu at Kottaram is full to the brim with exciting Pan-indian-inspired food. From Malabar Classics and Chefs Specials to Mumbai Street Food and Indo Fusion, there is something to suit everyone’s taste buds.

The carefully designed menu caters to a vast variety of Indian delicacies, touching from the North to South of India, which includes special items, Dosa and Thali.

Dosa is a thin pancake-style treat, traditionally made from a fermented batter of ground black gram and rice. These tasty treats are served hot with chutneys and are typical of south Indian cuisine.

If you can’t decide what to have, then Thai could be the perfect option for you. Common in all different parts of India, it is a meal made up of a selection of various dishes, all served to the table on a platter.

If you’re not the type of person who enjoys tying new flavours and prefers to stick to what you know and love, worry not, as Kottaram also offers a variety of Indian classics, such as Biryani, Dharbar Classics including Tikka Massala and Madras, and the all-important naan breads, sundries and poppadoms.

Now, you don’t have to wait until after work to enjoy your favourite Pan-indian cuisine, as Kottaram is also open for takeaways at lunch.

Monday to Friday from 12pm-3pm, you can order lunch for £4.59, which comes as a vegetarian or non-vegetarian option. The Kottaram Tiffin Box is a combination of two different curries with rice, naan bread and a dessert.

The Christmas menu is now also available and for £29.99, you can enjoy Kottaram Lentil Soup, a choice of two starters, a choice of four mains and a dessert.
