Vicky & Jonny hitting Rock City heights!

APRIL DAY FEVER EVENT WILL BE TWICE THE SIZE

DAY Fever – the daytime “nightclub” event organised by Jonny Owen and his wife Vicky Mcclure – will be hosted in Rock City from April, its creators have announced.

The first event in the city isn’t until March 30 – Easter Saturday – at Stealth on Goldsmith Street.

But demand has been so great that Jonny and Vicky have already put plans in place for a bigger venue for when it returns the following month.

Day Fever will come to the larger Rock City on April 20.

Jonny said: “We’ve just been overwhelmed and sold out so quickly everywhere.

“I’m really glad we’ve created something people can look forward to, come along and enjoy.

“It’s brilliant – beyond my wildest dreams.

“Rock City is such an iconic venue too so we were delighted when they invited us.”

When the Post spoke to Jonny in January, Day Fever was in its infancy, having just hosted its first event.

Since then, further dates in Sheffield, Cardiff, Manchester and Newcastle have been announced and now Jonny’s plan to bring it to each city once a month is well and truly in motion.

Rock City will have capacity to host around 1,600 eager punters – more than double what March’s venue Stealth can hold.

When it arrives, it will be the biggest Day Fever event in the UK to date. The announcement follows the waiting list for Nottingham tickets reaching 1,000 names.

Stealth’s event sold out in days but it was clear very soon after that many more people wanted to get involved.

Stealth’s owners – the DHP Family, which also owns Rock City – suggested upsizing to a bigger venue.

Rock City’s full capacity is actually 2,000 – but Jonny wants to cap it so that there’s enough space to dance.

“We’re really pleased,” he said. “The ones we’ve done so far have been such joyous occasions and people have had such a good time.

“We just play the greatest music of the 20th century. That’s the only way I can describe it.

“We play all the hits. It sounds cheesy but you can leave all your troubles at the door.” Jonny revealed that the event’s national status has become a “bit of a competition”. “Vicky wants to be in charge of Nottingham because it’s her city,” said Jonny. “It’s quite funny actually because it’s become quite competitive. Cardiff sold out in a few hours, which is my home city, with a one-and-ahalf thousand capacity, and so did London with the same. “But Rock City is 100 more. That’s mental for a Saturday afternoon. Vicky is really keen to sell it out as quickly as possible for the Nottingham bragging rights.” The organisers announced the Rock City news on the official Day Fever UK Instagram account on Friday. Tickets went on sale yesterday.
