A NOTTINGHAMSHIRE scriptwriter hopes his new film will make it on to TV screens in both the UK and America.

Jason Brown’s last movie, Ghost Track, can be seen on Amazon Prime and was on sale on DVD in America. Now he’s hoping that Creek Encounters will be an even bigger success.

The selfemployed print- er’s dream of becoming a fulltime writer is gradually moving a step closer.

CGI effects are used in the film about an invasion of spiders – one of them as “big as a car”

– from outer space.

Filming took place around Sherwood Forest, while an empty hall in Shirebrook, over the border in Derbyshire, was decked out to look like a school in the 80-minute movie.

Hollywood actress Kansas Bowling, who played Blue in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time... In Hollywood, stars along with Tamara Glynn, best known for Miami Vice and playing Samantha Thomas in the Halloween franchise.

Cast and crew attended a screening of the film at the Savoy Cinema in Derby Road, Nottingham.

Jason said: “It’s a nod to classics The Thing, The Faculty and Close Encounters Of The Third Kind but still trying to do my own thing as well. “The biggest success so far has been Ghost Track – that got the best reviews and got into Walmart and Best Buy on DVD in America and it’s on Amazon Prime.

“There were two previous lowbudget movies before but this is probably my most ambitious.” The idea came from seeing his son playing with toy spiders. Jason’s films have previously been showcased at notable international film festivals such as the Frame Film Festival, Los Angeles Cinefest, Hot Springs International Horror Film Festival, Golden Rake Awards and Los Angeles Independent Film Festival.

He said: “It’s always been a hobby but after the Ghost Track release where I started earning some royalties from it, it’s slowly going towards a career. I’m hoping it could be bigger than Ghost Track.

“I’m not really bothered about money. I like to do it because I have a passion for it.”

Creek Encounters is going to be pitched to Netflix and Amazon Prime. Jason added: “With the previous ones it was me contacting distribution companies, but this time distribution companies were coming to me. That’s never happened before.”
