Jewellers set to close after 38 years

-

A NOTTINGHAM jeweller is set to close its doors after nearly 40 years of serving locals.

Onyx Goldsmiths in Beeston has announced the “gradual closure” of its High Road store with owner, Erica Mucenieks, posting a heartfelt message onto the store’s Facebook page. Erica wrote: “Hello everyone. Well, as they say, all good things come to an end and I’m announcing the gradual closure of Onyx, my beloved business. It has been cherished like a fourth daughter to me and I’ve personally enjoyed every moment I’ve spent with all of our lovely customers.

“Over the last 38 years we’ve been through so much together in Beeston, seen many changes and experienced celebrations, jubilees, the tram and a pandemic, but, the time has come for me to retire. My treasured right-hand lady Zoe, and our fabulous assistant Emily, will continue working with me matching (as we’ve always done) the perfect piece of jewellery with our amazing customers.

“All of our Alladin’s Cave of unique pieces are reduced and once they’ve gone, they’ve gone. In order to avoid disappointment, please reserve any special pieces you may have had your eye on (a small deposit will suffice). Our workshop will continue as usual for the foreseeable – lots of love, Erica.”

Commenters were quick to thank Erica, and her staff, with one writing: “I’m so pleased you have decided to retire, Erica . I know you really love your work but it’s your time now to have fun

Another added: “Happy retirement Erica, your shop has been brilliant, I have had some unique pieces from you in the past years.

“Best wishes for the future.”
