More uncertainty over future of Annie’s Burger Shack in Derby, as building goes up for sale

-

AFTER weeks of speculation over the future of Annie’s Burger Shack restaurant in Derby, which has been closed since the New Year, the building it occupies has been put up for sale with “vacant possession”, leading to speculation that the venue has closed for good.

The name of the company running the restaurant, and also the one in Broadway, Nottingham, which remains open, changed from Annie’s Burger Shack Ltd to Broadway Restaurant Ltd on October 31 last year. The company went into voluntary liquidation shortly afterwards in November.

Initially, Annie’s Burger Shack, in Friary Street, Derby, traded throughout December but it announced it would be closed for maintenance for two weeks at the beginning of January. Later in January, a further announcement said that it would remain closed for a further two weeks, leading to concern about whether it would reopen in time for gigs scheduled for mid-february.

Since then there have been no official announcements but the property has been put on the market for £875,000 with vacant possession. The sales description says it is “currently trading as a restaurant business”, despite being advertised as “vacant possession”, and the photographs accompanying the advert show the building still fitted out as a restaurant.

The restaurant is owned by Anmarie Spaziano and Daniel Griffiths. However, Anmarie is the only listed director on Companies House.

The Derby Telegraph contacted the Derby restaurant and was told it wasn’t known when it would reopen “as there was some work being done”. Bookings are being taken for the Nottingham branch on the website, but the Derby branch appears to have been removed.

The Telegraph also contacted liquidators Corporate Financial Solutions (CFS) for comment.
