Housebuilder’s plans for new ‘thriving community’ within Mansfield

-

PLANS have been unveiled to build hundreds of new homes in Mansfield as part of a huge development project

Avant Homes Central will soon submit plans for 396 homes at Pleasley Hill Farm after purchasing 22-acres of land for an undisclosed sum. The development will be part of a larger scheme that will eventually provide 850 new houses, as well as retail and commercial space.

Mansfield District Council approved plans for the wider area in May last year, after negotiations with applicant Helier over planning obligations and financial contributions towards infrastructure improvements.

The new neighbourhood’s care home will have 160 beds and there will also be a gym, nursery, petrol station and shops. Avant Homes has said its section of housing, which it will soon seek permission for, would feature “energy efficient” two, three, and four-bedroom homes.

The finished estate, including 40 houses designated as affordable housing, would be valued at £90m. The company added it would be investing £55m to deliver the development, which it said would support local businesses and communities over a six-to-sevenyear construction period.

Avant Homes has also committed to contributing around £2.1m towards local services, education and healthcare. Matt Barker, director in charge at Avant Homes Central, said: “Our Pleasley Hill Farm site acquisition represents an exciting opportunity for us to expand our development footprint. As a housebuilder, we want to build quality new homes for everyone and this site is an ideal location for us to deliver our range of practically designed, energy efficient homes in a place people want to live. We look forward to working with Mansfield District Council and submitting our plans to deliver a new and thriving community within the town.”
