A NOTTINGHAM actress who starred in a low-budget horror film based on Winnie the Pooh says it being crowned by one organisation as the worst film of the year is “amazing”.

Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey won five categories at the 44th Golden Raspberry Awards, or “Razzies”, fending off competition from sequels to The Expendables, Shazam! and The Meg.

Described as as an “ugly cousin to the Oscars”, the Razzies name and shame the worst films of the year.

These awards are based on votes from members of the Golden Raspberry Award Foundation.

However, Natasha Tosini, an actress from St Ann’s who plays a central role in the box office hit, said the film’s wins were a “great thing”.

“We were up against people who had millions of pounds. The fact that we are in that list is amazing, I think it’s a great thing,” said the 25-yearold.

“People have been messaging me saying ignore the Razzies but people are noticing it and responding to it.”

She said it had also been received well in a group chat with members of the film’s cast and crew, adding: “Everyone’s loving it, no one’s upset, everyone is just happy.”

The Pooh slasher film, which took advantage of the iconic A. A. Milne characters coming out of copyright in 2021, won worst picture, worst screenplay and worst remake, rip-off or sequel.

The film has a critics’ score of just three per cent on review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, despite raking in $5.2 million at the box office.

Pooh and Piglet, who go on a killing rampage, won the worst onscreen couple award, which Natasha described as “hilarious”.

However, she felt Rhys Frakewaterfield’s gong for worst director was unfair.

“He is an amazing director, he had a £20k budget so there was not much he could do with it,” she said.

“I was with him on set and he was great, and the film made millions at the box office.”

Natasha and the film managed to dodge any nominations for worst actor or actress awards.

“The fact that there’s a worst actress award and I didn’t get nominated is sick, I could’ve won that and ended my career on the spot,” she said, but later added that if she had won it she would definitely put it on her Instagram bio.

While Natasha won’t be starring in the film’s sequel, having (spoiler alert) been brutally murdered in the original, she revealed she would be making a small cameo as a different character.

She said the film, due for release on March 26, will win a lot of people back over.

“I’d say at least half of the people who disliked the first one are probably going to like the second one.

“Now they’ve got the budget to do what they tried to do in the first one.

“They’re adding more characters and the costumes are realistic; I was with one on set and it was frightening.

“Instead of masks, they’ve got prosthetics.”
