No point in hoping for help from callous Hunt

-

CHANCELLOR Jeremy Hunt delivered for the rich and pushed out the poor and they suffer a lot more as usual (“Average earners’ feel benefit of budget, says Hunt”, Post, March 7).

I was hoping he was going to announce in his Budget that he was going to give a pay rise to the NHS and the train workers. He did nothing for them, or said anything for them.

Cutting National Insurance and saving £450 a year? We will not be better off because he will be claiming that back in taxes.

I did notice in that Budget that some of the plans were copied from Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer and Shadow Chancellor Rachel Reeves. Conservatives are saying they are delivering for the working class by cutting tax by 4p. How is that saving anyone anything? He then decides to increase the taxes for smokers and vapers. He is only thinking about the rich again. The poor will be paying the price.

He is increasing ISA contributions and taxes at a higher rate – that means that holiday homeowners will be paying more. Does that mean Prime Minister Rishi Sunak will be paying more for his flying around and holidaymaking?

He says further on down the line that the election could be called by October, but if that is the case our county will crumble more and just get worse.

I would like to congratulate Sir Keir Starmer for his fantastic comments at the end of the Budget, telling them what we think of them and calling for a general election now. He will be a fantastic Prime Minister and he will be truthful. Martin Nelson
