Skipper Cameron aiming to lead Magpies back up the table

KYLE SAYS PLAYERS FEEL SAME AS FANS AFTER DEFEATS

- By SAM ALLEN

KYLE Cameron says it’s “always back to square one” when Notts County prepare for the next game.

The Magpies had dropped to 15th in League Two before last night’s away game against Crawley Town.

And skipper Cameron is doing his best to help lead the Magpies back up the table.

“The team are trying to do the right things,” said Cameron. “These mistakes aren’t happening because the players are not committed to trying to do the right thing.

“The execution isn’t there at the moment though and that might be down to a loss of confidence or concentration in vital moments, which is something that we’re trying to address.

“The hope is that the next game that comes is the first moment for the rest of the season where the fans can look on and see a difference in the team and how we play, getting rid of the mistakes.

“It’s always back to square one in our preparation for the next game, you draw a line under whatever has happened and you go again for the next challenge, making sure the preparation is done correctly.

“You have to try and make sure that you’re going into that next match with a little more confidence and belief than you started the week with, and that comes from the training and the messaging within the camp.”

Magpies fans have been frustrated with recent home defeats, the latest being Saturday’s 2-0 loss against AFC Wimbledon at Meadow Lane.

“We have to use the reaction of the fans to propel ourselves forward because however they feel in the moment is usually the same as what we’re feeling as players, because we want the same thing,” Cameron added.

“As a club in the last 18 months, we haven’t been used to losing games of football, so it is a shock to the system. But it is something that we have to deal with.

“We have seen bad results in recent times but not bad performances, so we have to believe things will fall for us eventually.”
