Police appeal for video footage over fire death
FLOWERS have been left in tribute to a woman who died following a flat fire in Nottingham.
Emergency services were called to the blaze at a terraced bungalow in Forster Street on Friday, March 1, just after 5pm. Izabela Chalastra, 46, was taken to Nottingham City Hospital with critical injuries but died six days later, on Thursday, March 7.
A 62-year-old man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following the fire remains on police bail.
Floral tributes could be seen outside the house yesterday.
Bouquets were left outside the home, as well as two candles.
Janet Chaplin, 72, who lives on the street said: “Me and my husband saw the picture of her but we’ve never seen her around here. I’m so sorry for her. “It’s terrible and quite scary.”
Detectives investigating the incident are continuing to appeal for the public’s help, especially anyone who has any mobile phone or dash cam footage before or after the fire broke out.
Detective Inspector Craig Hall, who is investigating the incident, previously said: “These are tragic circumstances and our thoughts and condolences are with Izabela’s family at this unimaginably difficult time. We are continuing to work extremely hard to build up a picture of what happened and have spoken to a number of people as part of our investigation.
“However, we are aware that some people had captured the incident on their mobile phone and we really need those people to come forward. Anyone with dash cam footage from the area before, during or after the fire broke out are also being urged to come forward. We are satisfied this was an isolated incident and there is no risk to the wider public.”
