Nuno: Sooner the better for PSR verdict

FOREST BOSS NOT NERVOUS ABOUT DECISION AS HE STAYS FOCUSED ON CRUNCH CLASH AGAINST LUTON

HEAD coach Nuno Espirito Santo is hoping for clarity over any possible points deduction for Nottingham Forest as soon as possible.

The Reds were charged with breaching the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) in January. They faced an independent commission last Thursday and Friday as they began their defence against that charge.

Premier League rules state the commission “must provide its decision” within one week of the conclusion of the hearing. It means Forest could discover any potential punishment before they face Luton Town in a huge game tomorrow (3pm).

But far from feeling nervous, Nuno says the Reds would prefer to know sooner rather than later. He insists his team’s focus is firmly on matters on the pitch.

“No, we are not nervous,” he said ahead of this weekend’s clash at Kenilworth Road.

“Since we had the news there was going to be a hearing, we have been waiting. Let’s wait and see.

“We don’t know exactly when it will happen. The club will take care of that. Us as a team, football wise, we just focus on the pitch. We don’t know when it’s going to come. I prefer the sooner, the better.”

The Reds take on the Hatters, who sit one place and three points above them in the Premier League table with 10 games remaining.

Last Sunday’s 1-0 loss at Brighton & Hove Albion made it four defeats in a row in all competitions for Nuno’s side.

Financial regulations state Premier League clubs are only allowed to make a maximum loss of £105m across a rolling threeyear period, or £35m each season. For promoted teams that is reduced, meaning the Reds have been restricted to losses of £61m for the last three campaigns – £13m for the two seasons in the Championship prior to promotion, plus £35m last season.

The extent to which the club have breached the limit is not yet known.
