City bars where you can swap an Easter egg for a drink on the house

-

TWO Nottingham bars are offering a free drink to anyone who donates an Easter egg.

American-style dive bar Billy Bootleggers is appealing to customers to bring a little joy to youngsters having a tough time.

Stef James, Billy Bootleggers’ digital marketing manager, said: “We’re lucky to have a lovely following of kind and generous people, and we believe that when you give back, ultimately it comes back around and you get back too.

“That’s why we wanted to give something back to anybody that makes a donation. We think it’s a way of brightening everyone’s spirits, and most importantly it will hopefully bring a little joy to children who are otherwise having a rough time this Easter.”

Some of the eggs will be donated to the Ducklings charity at Nottingham Children’s Hospital. In return for an Easter egg, customers can choose from any draught product, house spirit, house wine, classic cocktail or anything from the Long Island Iced Tea menu at the bar in Weekday Cross.

A second bar, Revolución de Cuba, is also playing the Easter Bunny. The rum bar and cantina has teamed up with Mozart Chocolate Liqueur to give away free cocktails in exchange for chocolate eggs.

Donations will be distributed to food banks within the Trussell Trust network across Nottingham, ensuring families who would otherwise go without get to enjoy the taste and enjoyment of Easter over the four-day weekend.

The appeal runs until Saturday March 23. In return, customers will receive a chocolatey Bounty Rumtini cocktail, on the house, as a thank you, whilst ingredients are in stock. The limited addition to the cantina’s menu is a mouth-watering blend of creamy Mozart Chocolate Liqueur, made with refined Belgian chocolate and Malibu coconut rum.

The bar, in Market Street, will also be hosting an adults-only Cuban Egg-splorer egg hunt over the Easter weekend, in the city, when prize vouchers will be hidden locally to the Market Street venue. Clues will be shared on social media - offering the most eagle-eyed egg-splorers the chance to win free Mozart Chocolate Cream liqueur shots, shot boards or Bounty Rumtini cocktails.

Revolución de Cuba’s Alex Mcmillan said: “The Easter weekend is a special time to spend with friends and family. We hope that our ‘eggs-change’ campaign with The Trussell Trust charity will spread joy and kindness amongst our local communities in the run up to Easter shining a spotlight on Cuban kindness and hopefully putting smiles on lots and lots of little faces.

“We’re also going to be hosting some fabulously fun Easter events, which are sure to help make for a most fantastic bank holiday fiesta for everyone.”
