Sadness as popular farm shop announces its closure after 46 years

-

THE owners of a popular farm shop that has been open for 46 years have announced it will close at the end of the month.

Bramcote Farmshop has built up a reputation over the decades for selling fresh fruit, vegetables, plants and meat at an affordable price.

The business, off Derby Road, Bramcote is run by Anne and Andrew Woodward. They announced on Facebook that the shop will be shutting its doors, saying: “As a lot of you know Andrew hasn’t been in the best of health for some time. So we have taken the decision to close Bramcote Farmshop on March 30. We would like to say a massive thank you to all our customers for supporting us over the last 46 years, especially through the pandemic.”

Councillor Richard Macrae was one of the first to respond to the news. He said: “The thank you is to you both, not only an amazing place but the help and support you have given to others. Helping Stapleford Community Group and the Stapleford Food Project has meant your support has reached so many people. Big, big thanks to you both.”

A stream of customers said how much they would miss the couple and their shop. One said: “I loved coming to get my veg and fruit. I’m so sorry to hear that you are closing, you all have been amazing not only when we come but you have done amazing through the pandemic. Going to miss coming, good luck in the future.”

Another said: “It’s been great buying fresh, nicely presented produce while being entertained by Andrew and his unique humour.

“I wish you a relaxing retirement and hope it brings some benefits to your health.”

The shop normally opens from Friday to Sunday.
