This is one of the best romcoms from the 1980s. Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal play two long-time buddies who grow increasingly attracted to each other but are both worried that sex would ruin a great friendship.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1
Tuesday, ITV2, 6.15pm
The penultimate film in the franchise is dark, gritty and full of jeopardy. Daniel Radcliffe’s boy wizard resolves to find the remaining horcruxes and defeat the apparently immortal evil wizard Voldemort.
The Great Escape

A group of Allied prisoners, famed for repeatedly fleeing from various prisons during the Second World War, are sent to a supposedly escape-proof maximum-security detention camp. However, they soon plan a mass breakout. Steve Mcqueen (above), Richard Attenborough, James Coburn, Donald Pleasance, James Garner, Charles Bronson and David Mccallum star.
Trainspotting

Based on Irvine Welsh’s novel about drug-addled Edinburgh lowlifes, this cinematic version of Cool Britannia came with a great soundtrack and, despite its dark subject matter, an uplifting ending. Directed by Danny Boyle, the film made stars of Ewan Mcgregor, Ewen Bremner, Jonny Lee Miller, Kevin Mckidd, Robert Carlyle and Kelly Macdonald.
La La Land Friday, BBC2, 11pm
Harking back to the golden age of Hollywood, this dazzling musical will make your heart sing. A jazz pianist (Ryan Gosling) and actress (Emma Stone, pictured with Gosling) fall in love, while balancing their ambitions in the City of Angels.
