Seven great places to visit for half-term fun
HALF term is here and while it’s great that the kids will have two weeks off it can be difficult to keep them entertained.
With the warmer weather (hopefully) and longer days finally rolling in, we have rounded up some of the most exciting activities taking place across the county this half term.
All of which are sure to help you make the most of the weather, while also making some family memories.
From having a go at archery in Sherwood Forest to going on a classic Easter egg hunt, there is something for everyone and at a range of prices this half term.
1. Sundown Adventureland Eggbert’s Easter Egg Hunt - until April 14
The annual Easter egg hunt has returned to Sundown Adventureland, near Retford, this half-term.
Kids can hunt for the specially designed eggs that have been hidden across the rides and play areas in the theme park.
Once the trail has been completed, visitors will also be able to collect a complimentary sweet treat at the Pumpkin Patch Cafe before exploring their favourite attractions.
Children under 90cm will go free, but those who are adults or taller than 90cm will cost £24 each.
2. The National Ice Centre
There is a whole range of family friendly activities to enjoy at Nottingham’s ice rink including a Candyland Disco tomorrow from 2.30pm to 4.30pm where people should dress in their brightest outfits to dazzle under the disco lights. There are also taster sessions in ice skating to ice hockey, as well as table tennis, classic outdoor garden games and the shooting cage. Prices range depending on the activities, but for public skate prices adults cost £11, those up to 15 cost £10 and children five and under go free.
3. Green’s Windmill & Science Centre
Children over three years old can go on an egg hunt today or tomorrow from 10am to 3pm (£5) or try their hand at Easter biscuit baking on April 4 or April 6 between 10.15am and 2.30pm (£4). All of the ingredients are supplied.
There are also children’s bread baking sessions taking place on April 11 and April 13, which will also cost £4 a child. It’s a great way to learn how to bake bread, and you can eat it straight away or save it for later. The workshops will run from 10.15am to 2.30pm.
4. Tropical Butterfly House Egg-citing Easter Buddies Trail until April 14.
Just over the Nottinghamshire border in North Anston, near Worksop, you will find the Tropical Butterfly House Wildlife Conservation Park. The site will be holding all sorts of Easter activities this half term, including an Easter Buddies trail where children will need to find all of the friendly farm Easter Buddies to claim a sweet treat reward.
There will also be Easter-themed arts and crafts at the park, and families may even see the Easter bunny hopping around. In addition to all of this, there will also be free keeper talks throughout the day, tractor rides and the daily Animal Antics show. All of the Easter activities are on until Sunday, April 14, and the site is open from 10am to 5pm.
Admission tickets cost £15.99 per child or £16.99 per adult, whilst children under two go free.
5. Lakeside Arts Centre
On Sunday, April 14, a puppet show called Dragon is being performed. It costs £9.50 to £10 and lasts a little over an hour. It’s suitable for ages eight and over, and is a visually stunning show.
6. The Workhouse and Infirmary Southwell - Easter Egg Trail until April 14.
Make your way along the trail and find nature inspired activities perfect for Easter at the Workhouse in Southwell. It costs £3 per trail, and this includes an Easter trail sheet, bunny ears and a chocolate egg.
There are ten different activities for families to explore across the site. Normal admission charges still apply, but it is a National Trust site so members can visit for free.
7. Rufford Abbey Country Park Easter
Fun for families - until April 14.
Rufford Abbey Country Park in itself is already a great day out, there are loads of outdoor adventures to be had, including a Children’s maze.
However, until April 14, families can take part in the Easter egg hunt in the park. The sessions take place twice a day and cost £14.95, or £7.25 for children under eight, or free for those under one.
