Out of drop zone, now Reds told to keep climbing

FOREST FIGHT BACK FOR POINT AND NUNO WANTS THEM TO BUILD ON IT AGAINST FULHAM TOMORROW

HEAD coach Nuno Espirito Santo has stressed Nottingham Forest must build on their point against Crystal Palace as they climbed out of the relegation zone.

The Reds came from behind to draw 1-1 at the City Ground.

Jean-philippe Mateta had opened the scoring with 11 minutes on the clock but Chris Wood came to the rescue for Forest with an exquisite second-half header.

An improved performance from the hosts after the break saw them push for a winner.

One did not come but having dropped into the bottom three after being docked four points for breaching financial rules, they are now back up to 17th on goal difference.

A second successive home game, against Fulham tomorrow night, provides another opportunity for the Reds to try to get back to winning ways.

And Nuno said: “It is very tight (in the table). There are some teams still involved in that fight.

“We have to focus on ourselves. This point is good, as long as we do something against Fulham.

“I think we did enough in the game to achieve another result but the game was not easy and it started bad for us. When you have the expectations of ‘let’s go’ and you concede first, the team shakes and it was not what we wanted.

“But overall, I think we were dominant and were in control. We had good moments.

“We produced a better second half – more pace and we were more aggressive. But it is not easy to play against Crystal Palace because of the shape they have – the spaces, the gaps and the pockets are not there.

“Once again, the team showed character. We are out of the relegation zone and we want to capitalise on this for the next one.

“We definitely need to climb up the table.”
