MGW shone against Cottagers ... to spark more transfer talk

MORGAN Gibbs-white put in a performance for the ages in the first half of Nottingham Forest’s impressive win over Fulham on Tuesday night.

The 24-year-old was a joy to watch. It was him at his majestic best as he absolutely ran the show on the way to the Reds’ impressive 3-1 win. His goal capped it off nicely.

It was the kind of display to leave Forest fans drooling. It was also the kind of display that gets admirers talking.

The transfer rumours have already been doing the rounds. The club’s four-point deduction for breaching financial rules and the suggestion sales will be required this summer only added fuel to the fire.

Tottenham Hotspur are one of the teams to have been linked with Gibbs-white. And on Sunday, the former England Under-21 international will come up against Ange Postecoglou’s team when the Reds make the trip to the capital.

No doubt there will be plenty of eyes on how the Forest ace gets on. Not that he seems one to be bothered by any such speculation.

Gibbs-white has quickly been taken to heart by Reds supporters, as shown by Forza

Garibaldi’s pre-match display in midweek.

He might not technically be “one of their own” but many will feel he is as good as.

What happens between now and May will have a considerable bearing on how the summer pans out at the City Ground.

Relegation or survival will impact transfer plans.

Either way, there will be some outgoings. But if Forest stay up and finances allow, Gibbs-white can be someone to build a team around – because the scary part is he can get even better.

The initial £25m the Reds shelled out to secure his services from Wolverhampton Wanderers has proved a real bargain. Even the potential for the fee to rise up to £42m looks money very well spent.

He is one of a core of talented young(ish) players at the club, with the likes of Anthony Elanga, Callum Hudson-odoi, Danilo, Murillo and Neco Williams also in that bracket.

All should have their best years ahead of them.

The opportunity to try to progress in the Premier League next season with that group would be an exciting prospect for Forest.
