Three beauty businesses shortlisted for awards

THREE Nottinghamshire beauty businesses have been named as finalists in the UK Hair and Beauty Awards.

Lauren Turner, Amelia Cook, and Chyanelle Mclean have all had their businesses commended ahead of this year’s awards, which will take place in June.

Lauren, 35, from Gedling, launched Brow Lashes in Ilkeston two and a half years ago.

She has now been shortlisted in the Entrepreneur of the Year category.

Her business has received awards three times so far and she is hoping to open an academy next. Lauren said: “It’s amazing to make finalist at the awards because I started from nothing. I had no clients and needed to promote my business all the time. I was a single mum for a long time and then coronavirus hit as well so I’m very pleased to have my work recognised at a national level. It’d be great to win, but even if I don’t, it’s just nice to get recognised.”

Another beauty business owner who started from nothing is Amelia Cook, 32, from Hucknall. She opened the Beauty Garden just over a year ago and has now been shortlisted for Best New Salon and Best Team categories at the awards.

She said: “Making a finalist means the world to me because I started my beauty business in my back garden.

“To become a finalist is an absolute dream. It shows just how much hard work I’ve put into my business.”

Another Hucknall business owner that has had her work recognised ahead of the UK Hair and Beauty Awards is Chyanelle Mclean, 33.

Chyanelle is shortlisted in the Best Beauty Therapist category after opening CLM Beauty Therapy in Hucknall at the beginning of 2021. She said: “I’m so thrilled to be a finalist. I live and breathe for the beauty world and I am extremely passionate about it.”
