Nathan Law secures narrow win at latest NISA Open

3rd: Tom CALLADINE Bait-tech North 47-08

“NISA” OPEN MATCH MAY 15 LAKE TWO - Makins Fishery sponsored by Tackle Guru RESULT

1st: Nathan LAW Derby 73-11 2nd: Daz MILNE Hinckley 71-11

ANOTHER excellent turn-out on Lake Two, and as the carp appeared to have completed spawning anglers, and in the humid and mainly overcast conditions, anglers expected a good day’s sport.

Unfortunately, they were wrong, and most spent the day struggling for bites as very few fish seemed prepared to feed.

The payout was to the overall winner, and then (default) first and second places on each bank (A and B).

The exceptions on the day were Nathan Law (peg A15) and Daz Milne (A11), who battled it out throughout the day and were separated by a mere two pounds, in Nathan’s favour, at the end.

Nathan said he had an excellent first and last hour, with very little in between. He caught the bulk of his fish on the pole from the margins on pellet bait, totalling 73-11 at the weigh-in for victory.

In contrast, Daz caught all of his fish, bar one on the bomb, on the pellet waggler. He was interrupted when he lost his waggler and walked to the Fishery Tackle Shop to buy a replacement before continuing to catch. His 71-11 was just short of the winner but took second overall and won the A bank pool.

On the opposite bank on B19, Tom Calladine switched between pellet waggler (one early carp), pole (out and margin for nowt) and method feeder, catching late on to total 47-08 for third in the match and winning the B bank pool, with Andy Findlay (peg A8) in fourth place (taking second place in the A bank pool) with 43-14 of method feeder fish, followed by John Adamson’s 38-00 of method feeder fish from peg B21 which took second prize in the B bank pool.

• Nisa Opens are held most Wednesdays on Lake Two at Makins Fishery (see Facebook “Nisa - midweek open matches” to book a place).
