‘I PUT A NAPPY ON ANT’

ANT MCPARTLIN AND DECLAN DONNELLY RETURN AS A DUO FOR THIS YEAR’S SHOW

-

This year’s Britain’s Got Talent has been somewhat of an emotional one for Ant Mcpartlin. The 43 year old was brought to tears as he returned to the ITV show earlier this year after stepping away from hosting with Declan Donnelly following his drink driving crash last March.

Dec, also 43, has supported him every step of the way, and it seems the duo are back to their very best for series 13.

Cheeky Dec last week revealed that he and wife Ali Astall’s sex life recovered quickly after the birth of their six-month-old daughter, Isla. ‘You’ve got to get back on the game,’ he joked.

Also by Ant’s side is his girlfriend Anne-marie Corbett, who he is said to be eager to propose to once divorced from Lisa Armstrong.

Here, Ant and Dec, chat about spooky acts, Dec’s nappy skills, and why the judges are like a ‘dysfunctional family’…

What can fans expect from this year’s show?

Dec: We’re always shocked by what we see, but on more than one occasion this year we’ve both looked at each other and been like: ‘Even after 13 series we’ve never seen that before.’

Ant: It’s been great. It’s felt a bit like old-school Britain’s Got Talent where people used to just practise their act in their bedroom and then turn up on the show.

How’ve the judges been? Dec: They all get on like a dysfunctional family!

Ant: We’ve got to get them all on stage on time, which never happens!

Dec: It’s like herding cats! We’re like: ‘Come on, everybody, the audience is in, the acts are backstage ready to go.’

Ant: Or we turn around and one of the girls is back in her robe again, so not to crease their clothes. We actually gave them scooters this year in an attempt to get them to the stage a bit quicker. They are kids so it actually worked!

What can you reveal about your golden buzzer?

Dec: We just love him! We were chatting to him backstage and he just had the loveliest, sunniest personality ever.

Ant: We fell in love with him before he’d even gone on stage. He’s a real character. Dec: When he was chatting to the judges we were worried one of them was going to nab him for their golden buzzer. We were like: ‘We’ve got to sprint for this!’ I can’t wait to see him again.

One contestant had you involved in one of the spookiest acts ever, what was that like?

Dec: We had to sit on separate chairs with our eyes closed. All I know is that I got prodded and everyone was telling us afterwards that he never actually touched me, he always touched Ant, yet I could feel it!

Ant: We both had to draw something with our eyes closed and we drew the same thing, that was mad. We are quite in tune with each other. This guy took it to another level.

Stephen Mulhern always gets you doing weird stuff for Britain’s

Got More Talent. What’s he up to this year? Dec: One day he dressed as a baby because I’ve just had a baby. He asked me to show him how to put a nappy on. So I had to put a nappy on Ant!

Ant: He did very well, he kept everything in place!
