‘I HATE PREDICTABILITY’

SIMON COWELL SPEAKS ABOUT WHAT HE LIKES AND DISLIKES WHEN LOOKING FOR TALENT

-

The most famous TV judge is once again taking his seat at the helm of Britain’s Got Talent, and this year Simon Cowell has stipulated he only wants to see things that will surprise him.

However, he’s gone a little soft in his older age and reveals: ‘You have to accept that stuff you don’t like, others may do.’ Simon, who has son Eric, five, with partner Lauren Silverman, previously admitted fatherhood has changed him.

Here, Simon, 59, talks about how the contestants can wow him this year...

What’s the first thing that goes through your mind on audition day?

I just hope that I’m going to be surprised. My biggest thing is I hate predictability, I like being surprised!

How have you found the talent this year?

I definitely looked at the show in a different way to previous years, in that I was much more aware of what was going on, what I liked, what I didn’t like. You have to stand by your own opinions, but you also have to accept that stuff you don’t like, others may do.

Alesha’s just been a host [on The Greatest Dancer] – has she changed? I swear she’s come back like a producer! I think it’s been really good for Alesha. She’s got a great sense of humour and I thought she did great on the show in the role she had, she looked very comfortable. Apart from David, there’s no drama on our show.

Would you like to see the same panel come back next year?

I actually think we’ve gone past the stage of even having those conversations; where they all think I make the decisions on who stays and goes. I just think we’re all stuck with each other now! They are all so easy to work with, everyone has different tastes and I think that’s good for a show like this because we’re all looking for something different.
