GWYNETH PALTROW REIGNS SUPREME AT THE GLAAD AWARDS
Gwyneth Paltrow ruled the red carpet as she arrived at the 30th GLAAD Awards last week. The actress, 46, who wore a feathered silk shirt and Peter Pilotto cropped trousers, was joined at the glitzy event by her husband Brad Falchuk. She later took to the stage to present the award for Outstanding Film – Wide Release to the cast and director of Love, Simon.
The annual awards, which celebrate accurate and inclusive representations of the LGBT+ community within the media, were held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.
The evening was an emotional one for Beyoncé and her husband Jay-z, who were awarded the Vanguard Award. Bey, who looked stylish in a black blazer and Jimmy Choo heels, used her acceptance speech to pay tribute to her late uncle Johnny, who died from HIV. ‘He lived his truth. He was brave and unapologetic during
a time when this country wasn’t as accepting – witnessing his battle with HIV was one of the most painful experiences I’ve ever lived,’ said the singer, who had performed at Diana Ross’ 75th birthday earlier in the week.
The 37 year old went on to say she was ‘overwhelmed’, before revealing Johnny – who she called ‘the most fabulous gay man I ever knew’ – helped raise her and her sister Solange.
She added to huge applause and cheers: ‘Who you make love to and take that ass to Red Lobster is your human right!’ Her husband, meanwhile, dedicated his speech to his mother Gloria, who came out as a lesbian in his 2017 track Smile. ‘I get to follow in her footsteps for spreading love and acceptance,’ he said. Praising the rapper, 49, for helping advocate the LGBT+ community in the hip-hop industry, Beyoncé added: ‘It is a privilege to watch you take those steps and to stand right next to you.’
