MEL B ADMITS TO HAVING A ‘THING’ WITH GERI HORNER
‘LOOSE CANNON’ SPICE GIRL MEL B ADMITS TO HAVING A ‘THING’ WITH BANDMATE GERI, REIGNITING THEIR FEUD
Spice Girl Geri Horner kept a dignified silence last week as she was spotted for the first time since bandmate Mel B’s revelation that they once slept together. Despite claims that she is ‘livid’ about Mel’s racy admission, Geri,
46, looked beautifully composed as she emerged from her north London home. She lives with her Formula One husband Christian Horner, their son Monty, two, and her daughter Bluebell, 12, from her relationship with screenwriter Sacha Gervasi. Christian also has a daughter, Olivia, five with former partner Beverley Allen.
Mel dropped her bombshell during a recording of Piers Morgan’s Life Stories. When asked if there was any truth to the rumours linking her and Geri, Mel said the girl group had ‘all slept in a bed together’ but added that it was ‘not like that’. However, she then smiled and nodded when Piers asked if it was ‘like that’ with Geri.
But last week, before heading to LA with her eldest daughter Phoenix, Mel
backtracked, saying on Australian radio: ‘I didn’t actually really admit anything. I just said we had a “thing”. It wasn’t a big deal. It was one of those things that happened one night.’
However, on Piers Morgan’s show, she added: ‘[Geri] is going to hate me, she’s all posh in her country house and her husband, but it’s a fact.’ Going on to say Geri ‘had great boobs’, the mum of three continued: ‘It just happened and we just giggled.’ Bandmate Melanie Chisholm, who was in the audience, looked on in shock, exclaiming: ‘This is all new to me!’
Mel, who is openly bisexual, confirmed she’d since had ‘a long conversation’ with Geri to clear the air. Telling Geri not to worry, she said she had pointed out it was ‘pre your husband, pre your baby, pre one of my babies. It’s fine.’
Despite this, Mel’s revelations risk reigniting old rivalries between her and Geri which stemmed from them both seeing themselves as leaders of the band. There were also fears that
the Spice Girls’ long-awaited tour, which kicks off on May 24 in Dublin, could be in jeopardy as a result. There was already talk of a growing division over Mel and Geri’s creative ideas, with Mel keen to reinvent herself as sexy and edgy and Geri hoping to portray a more wholesome, family vibe.
Since her 2015 marriage to Christian, Geri has ditched her ‘Ginger Spice’ party girl image for that of a domestic earth mother-type. Geri views Mel as a ‘loose cannon’ in the band, while Mel is said to be unconvinced by Geri’s ‘lady of the manor’ persona. It has also been reported that Geri has hired a singing coach ahead of the tour so she ‘doesn’t feel humiliated’ singing alongside the other girls.
Another bombshell
Mel dropped on the show was labelling
Victoria Beckham a
‘bit of a bi**h.’ She added that their tense relationship is down to
Victoria turning down the Spice Girls’ offer to reunite on tour.
Last month there were unconfirmed allegations that the
Spice Girls were angry
Jess Glynne had been signed, and paid a substantial fee, to be a support act on their tour, without their permission.
