LOTTIE TOMLINSON CHATS TO OK! ABOUT HER HALF-BROTHER LOUIS AND FINDING LOVE

Make-up artist, influencer and author Lottie Tomlinson has carved out quite the career for someone so young. The 20-year-old social media sensation, who is the half-sister of One Direction star Louis, became the band’s make-up artist in 2015, released her debut book Rainbow Roots: #MAKEUPBYME the following year and created a self-tan range in 2018. And now she can add fashion designer to her CV, with the launch of her new collection for In The Style. But she tells OK! she can’t count singing among her many talents. ‘It’s definitely not my vibe. I don’t have a voice and I wouldn’t know how to perform. I’ll leave that to Louis!’ she says.

Lottie’s achievements are even more remarkable given the tragic loss of her mum Johannah Deakin from leukaemia in 2016 and sister Félicité in March, who was just 18 when she died of a suspected heart attack. Lottie recently posted a heartfelt tribute to her ‘baby sister’, saying: ‘I’m incomplete without you,’ but the subject of family is off limits during our chat.

Here, Lottie opens up about turning 21, being loved up with Made In Chelsea star Sam Prince and her top beauty secret…

You’ve had a lot of success for someone so young. How do you stay grounded – does Louis give you advice?

Having my family around me. We’re all so close and we came from nothing, so it would be hard for me to let things go to my head.

Are they who you turn to for support? Definitely. Whenever I need a few days off I go back up north and it just refreshes me so I feel ready for work again.

How are things going with Sam?

Great. He comes on all my work trips and is really supportive. He’s romantic, too. I’ve never been with someone like him. Whenever I’m down he’ll rub my feet, bless him.

You’re close to One Direction’s stylist Lou Teasdale – are female friendships important to you? Definitely. It’s hard to keep friends close when you travel so much, but Lou’s always been a constant in my life. I don’t know what I’d do without her. My flat in east London is right down the road from her, so we’re always at each other’s houses.

Would you like to sing like Louis?

It’s definitely not my vibe. I don’t have a voice and I wouldn’t know how to perform. I’ll leave that to Louis!

What’s your best-kept beauty secret?

I take women’s vitamins every day and I’ve seen a real difference to my skin and hair. You have to shave your legs more often as everything grows so quickly, but I’d rather that and have nice thick hair on my head!

Tell us about your In The Style collection…

I wanted to create a collection with an Ibiza vibe because my friends and I go every year and are always fascinated by what other girls put together. Often we’re at a pool party all day, so there are unitards that you can wear in the water and then go out in, too.

How involved were you in the designs?

I had full control over the designs. I chose the prints and fabrics and tried the samples on. I changed pretty much everything once I’d seen the samples! I spent ages trying to get the tone of the tie-dye pieces right.
