Breakout stars of The Hills, Heidi and Spencer Pratt continued to be controversial long after the series ended in 2010, making headlines on both sides of the pond. The married couple lived up to their troublemaker reputation, causing plenty of friction in the Celebrity Big Brother house in 2013. They still managed to secure second place, with Rylan Clark-neal taking the top spot that year.
OK! was the first publication to interview the pair after CBB when they opened up about their manic spending, which included
£800,000 on rocks and crystals, following their reality TV success. ‘We made and spent at least $10 million dollars. We heard that the planet was going to end in 2012. We thought, we have got to spend this money before the asteroid hits,’ explained Spencer, now 35.
But it wasn’t just spending money they were hooked on. Heidi, now
32, told us: ‘We were addicted to fame and so we had to take a step back and reassess.’ That didn’t stop them aspiring to be like one of the most iconic celebrity couples of all time. ‘The Beckhams have been our idols since he was scoring goals for England. We love being the new Posh and Becks,’ said Spencer.
Now the pair are back on our screens once more in The Hills: New Beginnings, and it seems drama continues to follow the couple after a fiery argument with Spencer’s sister Stephanie Pratt in the second episode. One thing that has changed, though, is their family dynamic, with the couple recently welcoming a son, Gunner, one.
