ADORABLE PRINCE GEORGE TURNS SIX
OK! LOOKS BACK ON YEARS OF PLAYFUL PRINCE GEORGE AS HE CELEBRATES HIS SPECIAL DAY
Cheeky Prince George celebrates his sixth birthday on July 22 on holiday in Mustique surrounded by his doting parents and siblings – and what an impression the young royal has made since his arrival in 2013! Over the past six years, the future king has become well known for his playful antics and sensitive nature.
Proud mum Kate recently revealed that her eldest son is showing signs of real creativity too, with a passion for drawing and photography. Speaking during a visit to the Action For Children centre in London last
month, Kate told teenage students: ‘Get outside with your camera... George and Charlotte love it when we do that.’ She also revealed how he’d been inspired to draw with charcoal found in a fireplace at home! George is sporty like his parents, too, with tennis ace Roger Federer confirming earlier this month that he has been giving the ‘cute’ young royal private lessons. ‘He’s got good technique,’ Federer revealed of George’s skills on the court.
Here’s to an equally fun and eventful year ahead, George!
AGED FIVE
Just under two weeks before George’s fifth birthday, his newborn brother Prince Louis was christened at Chapel Royal in St James’ Palace. On George’s birthday, Kensington Palace released an official photo from the ceremony, which showed George grinning alongside his parents and siblings. A second snap, taken by trusted royal photographer Matt Porteous, showed a cheeky-looking George snapped against a wall in the gardens of Clarence House. He celebrated his big day on the Caribbean island of Mustique with his family and maternal grandparents, Michael and Carole Middleton.
AGED FOUR
George again posed alone in his fourth official birthday portrait, showing off his gorgeous toothy grin and trademark side-swept hair. The photographer on this occasion was Chris Jackson, and it was taken at Kensington Palace a month before his birthday. Chris revealed he wanted to capture the spirit of George, explaining: ‘He is such a happy little boy and certainly injects some fun into a photoshoot.’ The third in line to the throne celebrated his birthday abroad, during a royal tour of Poland and Germany.
AGED THREE
For his birthday in 2016, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge released a series of photos of their son, all taken by Matt Porteous at their Anmer Hall home in Norfolk. The first of the pictures showed George standing barefoot on a swing baring the names of his parents – a wedding present to the couple following their 2011 nuptials. In another image, the prince was seen sitting on a rug offering the family dog, Lupo, a taste of his ice cream. The Duke of Cambridge later said: ‘I’m not telling [what he got as presents]. He got too many things, he’s far too spoilt.’
AGED TWO
Two months before his second birthday, Prince George became a big brother. His sister Princess Charlotte was born on May 2, 2015 and, to celebrate, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge released these gorgeous official portraits taken when she was just a few weeks old. Shot by amateur photographer Kate, the pictures showed George cuddling his new sibling. And he was thoroughly spoilt for his second birthday, too, having received 706 gifts from an overseas tour, including an £18,000 shepherd’s hut.
AGED ONE
The prince’s first birthday was celebrated with a set of gorgeous photos taken with his parents during a visit to the Sensational Butterflies exhibition at the Natural History Museum. George, dressed in a navy polo shirt and striped overalls by Petit Bateau, was fascinated by the butterflies, and the moment was captured by photographer John Stillwell. The photographer went on to describe George as ‘quick on his feet’, ‘lively’ and ‘determined’.
