Love Island WINNERS AMBER GILL AND GREG O’SHEA TALK TO OK! ABOUT THEIR FUTURE PLANS

THE SURPRISE WINNERS OF ‘LOVE ISLAND’ AMBER GILL AND GREG O’SHEA OPEN UP ABOUT THEIR TRUE FEELINGS

The past week has been an absolute whirlwind for Love Island winners Amber Gill and Greg O’shea. With over three and a half million Instagram followers between them and fans asking for selfies wherever they go, the couple are now officially reality TV royalty. Naturally OK! couldn’t wait to catch up with the pair, with Greg, 24, telling us: ‘It’s amazing. It still hasn’t really sunk in.’ He adds of his blossoming relationship with Amber: ‘We’re exclusive. We’re both quite loyal and really into each other.’

As we chat to the couple, it’s hard to believe they’ve only been together for three weeks, as they finish one another’s sentences and the chemistry sizzles between them. But then again, it was their undeniable chemistry that made viewers fall so hard for them. ‘I feel like Greg’s marriage material. My mam definitely wants me to marry Greg,’ gushes 21-year-old Amber of their future together.

A knight in shining armour, Irish rugby player Greg entered the villa two weeks before the final and swept Amber off her feet following her heartbreak at the hands of Michael Griffiths. Michael and Amber appeared solid, but split when Michael decided to couple up with Joanna Chimonides. After Joanna was voted out of the villa, Michael turned his affections back to Amber, but she only had eyes for Greg. ‘I would never go back to someone who hurt me the way that he did,’ she says. The beauty therapist from Newcastle has opened up about speaking to the show’s psychologist during that ‘hard’ time, and reveals she even considered quitting the ITV2 show. ‘I’m glad that I stuck it out because it’s made me stronger,’ she says. ‘I’m glad I’ve shown girls you can be strong and make the right decision.’

Here, Amber and Greg – who received almost double the amount of votes that runnersup Tommy Fury and Molly-mae Hague did in the final – tell OK! about how they’ll be making their long-distance romance work,

Amber’s relationship with her

‘big brother’ Ovie and where she stands with Michael...

Congratulations, guys! What are you going to do for your first date outside the villa?

Amber: I’m going to take Greg on a sushi date. There are some nice sushi places in Newcastle.

Greg: I’ve never had sushi!

Why do you think your relationship works? Greg: We just get each other. The most attractive thing about Amber is that she’s so open and honest and she backs herself, and I love that about her. There are no guessing games. I can’t wait to show her off and see where the future could take us.

Will you have a rule for how often you’ll see each other?

Greg: I don’t think you should put rules on relationships. But I live in Dublin, which has cheap flights to Newcastle every couple of hours, so it’ll definitely be more manageable than people think. I wouldn’t even call it long distance.

Do you think you will stay together? Greg: Definitely. We’ve only known each other a couple of weeks and it’s been amazing. I want to meet the rest of her family and show her off to my friends. There’s just so much exciting stuff we have in store now and we just can’t wait to do it.

The winners of the last two series of Love Island have split. How will you make sure that doesn’t happen to you?

Amber: We’re different people, to start off with. It’s definitely going to be hard but we can make it work, you’ve just got to put the effort in. We never really wanted to rush anything, so we’ll just continue that.

Are you prepared for the amount of attention you’re getting? Greg: We’ve had support from day one from ITV. They’ve helped us out and given us courses. There are people available to support us, as there were in the villa.
