While there are no couples from last year’s series of Love Island still together, Tommy Fury and Mollymae Hague have no doubts that they’ll still be going strong this time next year.
‘In a year’s time I see me and Tommy in a flat together, very very happy,’ says 20-year-old Molly-mae, who has hired a bodyguard since returning to the UK.
The influencer and boxer duo are hoping to prove those who have questioned Molly’s feelings for Tommy wrong and show that they’re ‘here to stay’. ‘We’re just so madly in love, it’s crazy – and we just can’t wait to show everybody that it’s real,’ adds Tommy, also 20.
Here, the couple, who were runners-up on the ITV2 show, tell OK! about whether or not they think they’ve found ‘the one’, and Molly’s thoughts on being branded ‘two-faced’...
Are you planning to move in together soon?
Molly: We’ve definitely spoken about it and we both live in Manchester right now, coincidentally. I’ve got my own place so I think Tommy will come and stay with me for a bit and we’ll see how things go. He’ll probably move a toothbrush in and leave his boxers on the floor!
Why do you think people don’t believe your feelings are genuine, Molly?
I’ve been trying to work it out myself because I’ve got absolutely no idea, and it is hard to hear because this is the most real thing I’ve ever felt in my life. I’m just excited to prove everyone wrong.
Tommy: I’m in the relationship and I can see that Molly is 100 per cent genuine. She reassures me and she gives me as much back as I give to her. It’s a two-way street and we can’t wait to show everyone that we’re here to stay. Viewers said you looked annoyed that you and Tommy didn’t win, Molly…
I wasn’t annoyed at all, I was over the moon for Greg [O’shea] and Amber [Gill]. I was smiling.
Tommy: I said from the moment I met Molly I was never interested in winning because I’d found what I was looking for in the first place. So there’s nothing to be sad about at all. Everything is perfect. I’m feeling very electric right now. Did you do the deed in the villa? Tommy: A magician wouldn’t reveal his tricks now, would he?
How will you cope with the attention you’re both going to get? Molly: Tommy gives me such reassurance every single day. He’s one of the most loyal people I’ve ever met in my life.
Do you think you’ve found ‘the one’? Molly: When my sister came into the villa, she looked at me and said: ‘I think this could be it.’ This is the happiest I’ve ever been with a guy so maybe I could have found ‘the one’. He adores me and he literally makes me feel like the only girl on the planet.
Can you see yourselves getting married one day?
Tommy: It’s a long way off but we’re so happy right now. I can’t see anything coming between us so I’ll take each day as it comes and see what happens.
Will your brother Tyson love Molly, Tommy?
He will do. What is there to not like about Molly? I just can’t wait to get back to him and tell him about my summer.
How are you feeling about your cousin, Tommy? [His cousin Peter was stabbed and left fighting for his life in intensive care while Tommy was in the villa.]
It’s obviously a shame to hear but I hope he’ll pull through and he’s alright. I’ll have a chat to him when we go and see him.
What do you think about Belle Hassan saying you’re ‘two-faced’ for voting for her and Anton, Molly?
It is a shame, but we had to vote for someone. It’s hard to hear her say these things but me and Tommy will both sit down with Anton and Belle about what happened. There’s no animosity there.
Anton has also unfollowed you... It’s a shame but I’ve got nothing bad to say about Anton. It’s hard. It’s not a nice thing to hear but Tommy and I will both speak to them because it was a joint decision. And at the end of the day, it was a public vote, it was the public that voted them out, not
