CURTIS PRITCHARD AND MAURA HIGGINS ARE IN IT FOR THE LONG HAUL

AFTER COMING FOURTH, CURTIS PRITCHARD AND MAURA HIGGINS TELL OK! THE TRUTH ABOUT THEIR RELATIONSHIP

-

Their romance started out an unlikely one, but Curtis Pritchard and Maura Higgins are determined to prove their Love Island relationship is the real deal. ‘It’s absolute sh**e,’ says Maura of claims they are fake.

Looking forward to her future with dancer Curtis, she adds:

‘Things are definitely moving in the right direction.’

The ring girl has been hailed a feminist icon thanks to her fierce independence and frank honesty when it comes to talking about sex.

‘I don’t see why women can’t talk about sex and men can,’ she says.

Here, Curtis, 23, and Maura, 28, tell what’s next for them...

What do you make of people saying your relationship is fake?

Maura: It’s absolute sh**e. If I wasn’t happy, my face would tell everyone that I’m not happy. It’s definitely not fake and me and Curtis are very, very happy.

Curtis: I agree with Maura. I’m having the best time of my life and, as you can all see, she’s brought out the best in me.

How are you going to ensure your relationship works now you’re back home? Maura: Honesty, definitely.

Curtis: I really am enjoying our thing together. I think she’s amazing and I really do like her so we’ll just be ourselves. And sex [laughs]!

Maura, you were praised by stars like Lena Dunham and Amy Schumer for talking openly about sex. Is that something you feel strongly about?

A hundred per cent. We’re all human. I don’t see why women can’t talk about sex and men can. Women get slated for it and I disagree with that. The Amy Schumer thing I heard about today and I’m in shock. I love her to bits. OK! How do you feel about your phrase ‘f**ny flutters’ catching on?

It’s ‘f**nytastic’! I’ve always used it.

Can you keep up with Maura’s sexual side, Curtis?

There’s only one way to find out! Maura: He’d better or he’ll be gone!

Have you done the deed yet? Maura: We’ve actually not had a minute to ourselves yet. I’m still very frustrated, not going to lie. I’m excited for…

Curtis: What’s about to come…

Maura: [Laughs] Yeah, what’s about to come.

Are you planning to make things official? Curtis: The next step is spending time with each other and we’ll see.

Maura: Things are definitely moving in the right direction.

Do you think Amy Hart has taught you how to deal with relationships better? Curtis: I’m going to say yes, as everything in life teaches you how to deal with situations better. Whether good or bad. Hopefully in the future I may have a friendship with Amy. There will be! You didn’t seem happy that Amber Gill and Greg O’shea won, Maura. Did that come as a shock?

Of course I’m happy for Amber and Greg. I love the bones of them. I was shocked, and my face reveals everything. It’s Love Island and Molly-mae [Hague] and Tommy [Fury] found genuine love. I was expecting them to win.

You’re in touch with your feminine side, Curtis. Was that important to show on TV? I’m a dancer and sometimes people stereotype dancers. I am who I am and I wouldn’t change it. I like who I am!

Maura: And I like it too!

Would you ever work on Strictly Come

Dancing, Curtis?

I would never say no. It’s fantastic and dancing is my life, so who knows what the future holds. It would always be a dream to work with my brother [Strictly professional AJ Pritchard]. He’s my best friend and he’s one of my idols.

What’s next for you?

Curtis: I believe I’ve got a couple of things coming up like Rupaul’s Drag Race and maybe a pantomime!
