INSIDE MELISSA’S HOME

How long have you lived here? About 12 years. We’re based here. London is my favourite place in the world. I love the Queen! She’s iconic in her fashion and I find her a fascinating woman. It’s on my bucket list to meet her, so if you’re reading this, I would love to have tea with you. But she doesn’t like swimming, I heard, she likes cold weather.

Have you done any work on the house?

When I first came to see it, my friends were like: ‘Oh no, don’t get it!’ It looked like a Swiss chalet – it was all carved wood. I met Kelly Hoppen and she did my kitchen, including the custom-made marble table. Once you have one good room, you’re like: ‘Oh, now I have to re-do the whole house because it looks c**p in comparison.’

Which room do you spend most time in?

The kitchen, when the fire is on, it’s cosy. I love it being all white to remind me of the beach. I have a house in Florida that’s all white. I like mixing it up with vintage and ’60s pieces.

Tell us about all your art work...

I love photographs, but I buy everything through my art consultant friend Fru Tholstrup and it’s usually something featuring the beach.

How many pairs of shoes do you own?

I have no idea as my kids steal my shoes all the time!

Is that your bicycle on display [far right]?

I love cycling – my last bike got stolen, so this was a Christmas present! I don’t drive any more, I haven’t for three months now because I’m going green. I use my bike to go everywhere in London. It’s only eight minutes to my office.
