WHAT IS IT?
The country spa retreat, housed in a beautifully converted farmhouse, is hidden off a winding road in the Staffordshire countryside. ’Not many people know we’re here,’ says the receptionist with a wink as we arrive at Moddershall Oaks, which goes some way to help you forget about the real world when you arrive.
WHY DO WE LOVE IT?
The pièce de résistance is the large outdoor hydrotherapy pool that overlooks the rolling green hills, obscured only by the steam rising from the water. There’s no need to leave the bubbles, as staff regularly circulate to get your drink orders. Depending on how you like to relax you can get yourself a glass of prosecco, a green juice or a luxury hot chocolate complete with whipped cream and marshmallows – we went for all three!
Once OK! had a long soak we grabbed our branded grey robe (which are available to purchase) and flip flops to head to the indoor spa, which includes heated loungers under twinkly lights, reflexology foot baths and a steam room. To take your relaxation up another level, book in for an Elemis treatment – OK! enjoyed a deep tissue massage (£70 for 55 minutes), which was tailored to our needs, and by the time we walked out it felt like we’d been given a whole new body!
After all that relaxing you may crave a bit of exercise, and there’s plenty to choose from with tennis courts (racquets are available for free hire) and 70 acres of parkland, which can be explored on foot or on a vintage-style bike which can be borrowed from the hotel. You can also visit the Made Wellness Centre opposite a small gym with plenty of classes from HIIT to yoga.

The Real Housewives Of Cheshire stars have enjoyed some pampering at this luxury spa hotel. And Love Island stars including Montana Brown and Wes Nelson have been spotted relaxing in the grounds.
WHAT ELSE?
Stay overnight in one of the ten luxurious spa suites to allow yourself maximum time to enjoy all that Moddershall Oaks has to offer. Guests have access to a hot tub, so grab a drink and you can pretend you’re on a date in the Love Island villa hideaway! The hotel restaurant, which looks out onto the picturesque lake, is the perfect place for an indulgent dinner. OK! enjoyed the gnocchi (£15) followed by the salted caramel, pear and frangipane tart with pistachio ice cream (£7).
