Love Island LOVEBIRDS MOLLY-MAE HAGUE AND TOMMY FURY JOIN OK! FOR AN EXCLUSIVE SHOOT

‘LOVE ISLAND’ RUNNERS-UP TOMMY FURY AND MOLLY-MAE HAGUE TALK TO OK!’S KIRSTY HATCHER ABOUT LOVE, LIFE AND MAYONNAISE

-

Their tans may be fading, but the love between Tommy Fury and Molly-mae Hague is stronger than ever. Since finishing as runners-up on the ITV2 show, the Love Island love birds have gone from strength to strength. And when we meet them in their penthouse suite at The May Fair Hotel for our exclusive OK! shoot, it’s hard to believe that Molly has been accused of faking her feelings for Tommy. From the way they look at each other and finish one another’s sentences, it’s clear that this is the real deal.

‘We can’t see anything breaking us apart,’ says Molly, 20, as she lovingly smiles at Tommy.

Boxer Tommy has been a constant source of support to influencer Molly, who has been subjected to cruel trolling and has even received death threats. Thankfully, Molly has found a way to laugh off her ‘Money-mae’ nickname and suggestions she’s just with Tommy for her career, but there is no denying that the experience has been hard on her.

‘It’s a lot of jealousy,’ says Tommy, whose brother is world champion boxer Tyson Fury. ‘She’s a young, beautiful girl who is doing well for herself.’

It’s not long before we are joined by the other love of Tommy’s life – a jar of mayonnaise! The

20 year old politely requests some to go with his pizza and devours almost half a bottle during our chat! This even has Molly’s dad Stephen, who has joined us on the shoot along with her sister Zoë, joking about installing a mayonnaise fridge at the family home for when the pair come to stay!

Here, Tommy and Molly, who were both approached by ITV producers to take part in Love Island, tell OK! about weddings, babies and how Molly has coped with the backlash she’s faced…

Congratulations on finishing second! Can you see yourselves following in the footsteps of previous Islanders who have got married, like Olivia and Alex Bowen? Molly: We keep saying we can’t see anything breaking us apart. We’re so happy. We haven’t had one argument since we got together. We’re both jealous types but not in a way that it would ever come between us. I like someone who’s a bit jealous and Tommy does too. We’re the boy and girl versions of each other. Tommy: It shows that you care. For me, Molly’s perfection, inside and out. It’s something I’ve never felt before. She is the one for me.

Were you disappointed not to win? Molly: Not at all. We’re so happy for Amber [Gill] and Greg [O’shea], they deserved to win. Tommy: We were just excited to make the final.

Are you going to move in together? Molly: Tommy is going to stay with me a lot, then we’ll see what happens. We speak about it and he’s already got a toothbrush at mine. Tommy: We need to be attached at the hip; being apart is not for me. I live at home in Manchester but I’m thinking about getting a place in London and then we’ll just take it day by day.

We saw you get intimate in the villa… Tommy: It was just vigorous talking! I’m a boxer so I was just trying to show her a few body shots [laughs]! Has it been nice to be intimate without the cameras around?

Molly: Yes, it’s an important part of the relationship.

Do you want to get married?

Molly: To each other? Yeah!

Tommy: A hundred per cent.

Molly: It just feels mad at this age. I think a lot of relationships at 20 are immature but we feel like full-grown adults. I never expected to find someone at 20. I know we’re young but we’re so strong.

Tommy: I’m a Christian and a big believer in God; I thank God every day. It would be a big church wedding.

Molly: My job is fashion so I’d want a big wedding! It’s a big deal.

Have you thought about a proposal, Tommy?

When the time comes it will be very extravagant and I’d get her the nicest ring she wants. Whatever Molly wants she can have!

Have you spoken about having children?

Molly: We did speak about baby names in the villa but only in the baby task, not because we actually want to have babies right now!

Did you both enjoy the reunion after-party?

Molly: We didn’t stay long because we were so tired. I don’t really go out and drink, it’s not my vibe. There was some awkward tension on the show so we stayed in our own little group.

Did you speak to Anton Danyluk [who unfollowed Molly on Instagram and also said: ‘We never saw eye to eye, we weren’t friends’] at the party, Molly?

No, I’m not confrontational at all. It’s his choice and I’m not going to sit here and cry about it.

Tommy: It’s a shame he’s come out and said these things, but we both wish Anton the best in life.

Do you think Anton regrets what he said? Tommy: Yes. We all went through this experience together so why shouldn’t we all be friends? On my part, there is no bad blood but it’s not nice that someone has called my girlfriend fake when she’s clearly not. Molly: Everyone has seen that I’ve been getting quite a lot of backlash and hate online, so for him to then add fuel to the fire was quite shocking. I know Tommy would never do that to [Anton’s girlfriend] Belle [Hassan] if she was in this situation, because he’s not that type of person. I think it showed more about him than anyone else. It’s a shame that this has happened. It was unnecessary. I want to be able to support everyone who was on the show. we all did this together.

How have you dealt with the negativity you’ve faced online, Molly?

I knew I was going to get my fair share of hate but I didn’t know it would be to this extent. To be called fake and all these horrible names like ‘Money-mae’ when I haven’t actually done anything wrong was a shock. It is hard to hear.

Have you looked at what people have said about you online?

I did at the start but then I had to stop; I think it’s best not to. Some of the stuff that’s been said about me is pretty vile. There are death threats, which really isn’t nice.

Can you understand why this is happening? I think my job probably doesn’t help. Influencers do get a lot of hate but it’s funny and contradictory because everyone still follows you. I wasn’t trolled before so it was a shock. Tommy’s been incredible, he’s so supportive.

Has it been hard for you to see, Tommy? Yes, because whatever she goes through, I go through. It’s horrible. I hate seeing Molly get trolled. I think people are jealous. I’ve been living with her for the past two months and she’s the most genuine and nicest girl I’ve ever met.

Is it true you’ve been having therapy to deal with the trolling, Molly?

No, I’ve been having the same [post-love Island] after-care as everyone else. I’ve taken the support that ITV provided and it’s helped. People keep sending messages like: ‘Pray for Molly-mae, I hope she’s okay,’ but I’m literally sat here loving my life. I’m so happy, nothing can burst my bubble; what the public think is irrelevant.

What does your job as an influencer entail?

I create content for brands, film Youtube videos, model and go on brand trips. Influencers are so misunderstood. There is a lot more to it than people think and it’s a proper full-time job. It allowed me to move out of home aged 19 and none of my friends have done that.

Are you going to go back to boxing, Tommy? Yes, I was born a fighting man. I’m going to take these great opportunities now, but I’ll be back in that ring. My family support me whatever I do.

‘influencers are misunderstood. it’s a proper full-time job’

Did you see that your former girlfriend Millie Roberts celebrated when you didn’t win, Tommy?

I thought things ended on good terms between us so it’s not very nice to hear people you’ve had relationships with doing those things, but I can’t tell her what to do or say. There is no bad blood from my part.

Your brother Tyson warned you not to take part in Love Island…

A lot of people have their say on what I should and shouldn’t do, and Tyson has always advised me well, but I’m my own man and I make my own decisions. My family were very supportive of me going on the show.

What has Tyson said to you since you’ve been home?

He’s really happy for me and I can’t wait for Molly to meet him. I don’t think anyone expected me to come back with a girlfriend.

Tyson has been open about his mental health struggles. What was that time like for you?

It was definitely a hard time for me but look at what Tyson has done for mental health since, he’s helped millions around the world. The people sending death threats to Molly need to think because these things can have big effects. Tyson’s the big man and the big champ but negative thoughts still entered his head.

Have you ever talked about your background as a traveller, Tommy? No, I haven’t spoken about it much but I’m proud of where I come from, it’s who I am.

It was reported that your family are planning a ‘big fat gypsy wedding’ for the two of you, Tommy…

There is no truth in that. In the future we’re going to have our own wedding. Molly: We’ll plan it ourselves!

Curtis Pritchard has said he’s open to a relationship with a man…

I can’t comment as I haven’t seen the article, but I found a brother in Curtis. Till the day I die, I’ll be with Curtis.

What did you do on your weekly days off from filming in the villa? Molly: Just chilled. Sometimes the boys would go off to a different villa if there had been an argument because otherwise people might have sorted things out while we weren’t filming. On nights off from filming we had to sleep in same-sex beds in the same room [as the producers didn’t want to miss chats between couples]. Tommy and I would just wave at each other and throw [Molly’s teddy] Ellie-belly across the room!

How much mayonnaise did you get through during your time in the villa, Tommy?

It got to the point where I was going through a bottle a day. The boys had to save me. They said: ‘You need to think about your career!’ I started fearing for my health mid-way through as I’d put on a stone. I switched over to ketchup for a bit and I got some sort of abs back.

Molly: I put on 5lbs. I go to the gym most days when I’m at home but in the villa your diet and health just goes out of the window.
