WESTLIFE’S KIAN EGAN AND WIFE JODI ALBERT WELCOME A BABY BOY

ISSUE 992 AUGUST 4 2015

It’s been nine years since Westlife released an album – but fans don’t have much longer to wait for the next. Kian Egan, Shane Filan, Markus Feehily and Nicky Byrne are back with Spectrum in November. Their first release since 2010’s Gravity, it will feature collaborations with the likes of Ed Sheeran and singer James Blunt.

Back in 2015, Kian, now 39, and his wife Jodi Albert invited OK! to their home in County Sligo in north-west Ireland, as they exclusively introduced their baby boy Zekey, a little brother to Koa, now seven.

The happy arrival was tinged with sadness after doctors picked the birthday of Jodi’s late mum Eileen as her planned Caesarean date. ‘It broke my heart that my mum wasn’t going to meet the baby, but it was so special that he would share the same birthday,’ Jodi told OK!. And recalling the moment they first set eyes on Zekey, who was born just three months after Eileen’s death, she added: ‘When we saw his dark hair we immediately broke down as he looked so much like my mum.’

Proud dad Kian, who nearly missed the birth because he was ‘chilling with a latte’, revealed that he’d held Jodi’s hand during the procedure, explaining: ‘The doctor had told me not to look at the operation, that it wasn’t too pretty!’

But revealing that they’d love to have more children in the future, Jodi said: ‘Kian’s from a big family of seven so ideally we’d like three or four… We’d love a girl but as long as they’re happy and healthy, that’s all that really matters.’

In 2017 the couple were thrilled to welcome a third son, Cobi. But with Kian previously admitting that they’d maybe ‘have to go again’ if they had another boy, our guess is they’ll definitely make it an even number!
