CANDICE BROWN

THE BAKING QUEEN ON HER SECRET INGREDIENT AND SPOILING HER POOCHES

-

What’s your weekly fitness regime like?

At the moment I’m between walking and running as I’m training for my next race [Candice completed the London Marathon this year]. I’d love to get back into yoga but it’s the problem of finding time.

Who do you love to exercise with?

I tend to exercise on my own; it’s probably down to a confidence thing. If I’m running with somebody else, I feel like I’m holding them back.

What’s your preworkout snack?

A protein shake or some yogurt and fruit. I’m really conscious that I eat a lot of cake and pudding. I always will because it’s my favourite thing in the world!

Who do you eat dinner with?

My husband Liam. At the same time, I try to feed three dogs who normally get a share of dinner because they’re the most spoilt pooches!

What’s your signature dish to cook?

Usually winter comfort food like stews and casseroles, but because I’m trying to be healthy we’ve been eating a lot of lighter stir-fries. My secret ingredient is a big dollop of peanut butter or almond butter.

What do you love about yourself?

The fact I’m kind. I like to think that I got this from my nan – she was the kindest person in the whole wide world.

Who do you find inspiring? Giovanna Fletcher [Happy Mum Happy Baby podcast host] is an amazing one-woman machine and an advocate for so many important things. Jameela Jamil’s also incredible for what she’s doing with her ‘I Weigh’ movement.

Do you feel the pressure to look good being in the public eye?

Inevitably yes. Some days I don’t care, then other days I think, oh my God, what do I look like? Those days make me feel like a massive hypocrite, but it’s hard, it’s a daily battle. Humans are so self-critical. I have to remind myself, you’re much more than that.

Why is Alzheimer’s Research UK so close to your heart?

I’m honoured to have been an ambassador for the charity for over two years now. My grandad had Alzheimer’s disease, so by supporting the charity I feel that I’m able to share his story and help by raising awareness and funds.

CANDICE IS SUPPORTING THE #SHARETHEORANGE CAMPAIGN BY ALZHEIMER’S RESEARCH UK, WHICH PUTS A SPOTLIGHT ON THE FACT DEMENTIA IS CAUSED BY PHYSICAL DISEASES, NOT SIMPLY AN INEVITABILITY OF OLD AGE. FOR FURTHER INFO VISIT WWW.ALZHEIMERSRESEARCHUK. ORG/ORANGE.
