OUR COLUMNIST FEELS SORRY FOR THE DUCHESS OF SUSSEX AND REVEALS WHY SHE’S PROUD OF PETE

When it comes to the Duchess of Sussex, I think we need to cut her some slack as she’s had a really hard time. Seeing her tearing up [above and bottom right] during that TV interview Harry And Meghan: An African Journey when opening up about dealing with negative press while pregnant left me really feeling for her.

Whether she knew what she was signing up for or not by marrying Prince Harry, she is a new mum and she’s obviously finding it hard. We should support her. You also can’t choose who you fall in love with and it’s not her fault. I remember worrying about the pressures of parenting on camera when Pete was still filming Peter Andre: My Life. As it turned out, he decided to stop filming, but it made me really worry about the scrutiny I would be under, and that is on nowhere near the same scale as Meghan has had to go through. She is also learning how to be a royal and it can’t be easy, whereas Harry and William will have had training their whole lives. For some reason, people seem to love to criticise her for every little thing she does, like when there were comments that she wasn’t holding Archie correctly. Things like that when you’re a new mum can really get to you, because you’re questioning yourself anyway. He looks happy and healthy [above]. I think we need to leave her alone.
