Brad Pitt is reportedly ‘furious’ over former wife Angelina Jolie’s claims she feels trapped in the US by the actor, following a ‘painful’ custody battle. The actress, who has a home in Cambodia where her son Maddox, 18, was born, admits she’d like to move abroad, but can’t while she and Brad share custody of their six children.

Posing for Harper’s Bazaar, the actress said: ‘I’d love to live abroad and will do as soon as all my children are 18. Right now I’m having to base where their father chooses to live.’

But an insider has exclusively revealed to OK! that her claims have left Brad, 55, feeling she’s ‘cast him as the bad guy’. ‘They had agreed to keep arrangements private. He’s pleaded with her for the kids’ sake never to say anything negative about him in public,’ explains our source.

As well as Maddox, the couple have three biological children, Shiloh, 13, and 11-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne. Their son Pax, 15, was adopted in Vietnam, and their daughter Zahara, 14, from Ethiopia.

After the split in 2016, Angelina, 44, filed for sole custody, but the pair agreed on joint visitation rights in December.

Maddox is thought to be estranged from his father after a fall-out on a private jet in 2016, when the teen reportedly stepped in to defend his mother in an argument. ‘Brad sees the kids quite often – three days a week he has at least two of them, except Maddox who’s cut ties,’ explains our insider.

The arrangement, says our source, means Angelina cannot take the children away for long periods while on location, as she used to.

It’s her kids, Angelina says, that have helped her stay strong since the split. ‘My children know my true self, and have helped me find it again and embrace it. They’ve been through a lot. I learn from their strength. As parents, we encourage our kids to embrace all that they are, and all that they know in their hearts to be right, and they look back and want the same for us,’ says the Maleficent star.

The years since she and Brad split have left their mark, admits Angelina. ‘My body has been through a lot over the past decade, particularly the past four years, and I have both the visible and invisible scars to show for it. The invisible ones are harder to wrestle with. Life takes many turns. Sometimes you get hurt, you see those you love in pain, and you can’t be as free and open as your spirit desires,’ she adds.
