‘I HOPE THE UK LOVES ME!’
CAITLYN JENNER HAS BEEN TO THE JUNGLE BEFORE!
Caitlyn Jenner is no stranger to the jungle. Caitlyn’s first time on the US version of I’m A Celeb was in
2003 when she was still known as Bruce before going public as a transgender woman in
2005. In fact, the reality star came fourth!
The 70 year old explains: ‘It was a very interesting experience the last time I did it.
Being in the jungle is certainly not easy and, yes, it is totally back to basics but I thought this would be a great opportunity to leave everything behind for three weeks. Last time, it was almost like a cleansing of the soul’.
Caitlyn explains that her motivation to take part is to show she is ‘exactly the same person as I have always been.’
Caitlyn is dad to Burt, 41, and Cassandra, 39 – from her first marriage to Chrystie Scott – Brandon, 38, and
Brody, 36 – from her second marriage to Linda Thompson – and daughters Kendall, 24, and Kylie, 22, with former wife Kris Jenner. She is also stepdad to Kris’s children Kourtney, 40, Kim, 39, Khloé, 35, and Rob Kardashian, 32.
Caitlyn suffered a brief feud with stepdaughter Kim over revelations made about the star’s mum Kris in her tell-all book The Secrets Of My Life. But the pair have since reunited and Caitlyn says she even counts Kim’s husband Kanye West as a ‘good friend’.
The former Olympic gold medal decathlete winner will also no doubt have the support of her partner, 23-year-old Sophia Hutchins. Despite being surrounded by a huge family, Caitlyn has admitted to leading a relatively solitary life.
She said: ‘I spend a lot of time by myself here in the house.’
Talking of the challenge the jungle will bring, she said: ‘Dealing with other people is by far the hardest thing. It’s much more difficult than dealing with the most poisonous snakes in the world. That’s easy – just stay away from them! You can’t get away from the other people.’
But she hopes to win the support of the viewers at home, adding: ‘I love the British people and I am looking forward to making some new friends, new allies and getting through it all... I hope the UK loves me!’
