‘SOME PEOPLE PITY ME BUT I WANT TO SHOW I’M FINE!’

JACQUELINE JOSSA ON HER DREAM CAMPMATE AND PROVING PEOPLE WRONG

-

Actress Jacqueline Jossa has been focusing on her role as a mum of two since leaving Eastenders in 2018. She held down the fort at home with daughters Ella, four, and one-yearold Mia when husband Dan Osborne entered the Celebrity Big Brother house last summer, but now it’s her turn to tackle a reality show after entering the I’m A Celeb jungle.

The star, 27, has seen her marriage hit headlines over accusations of Dan’s infidelity – something he has always denied – but she insists she wants to change the public perception of her. ‘Some people pity me. I want to show I am fine,’ she says.

Speaking ahead of her stint on the show, Jacqueline talks about her biggest fears and what she’ll miss most…

What will you find the hardest about the show?

It’s going to be so difficult going in as just me. I have never done a show where I have been myself before. Also, I am scared of everything – especially spiders! They are the worst. There will be tears. My old colleagues on Eastenders are going to be shocked. I don’t think they can imagine me in the jungle. I’ve never jumped out of a plane or camped in my life. I’m not that kind of girl, but I’m really excited. It’s going to be a totally new experience.

What do you think you’ll gain from being in the jungle?

I’m looking forward to not being on my phone and Instagram. It will be a detox. I think people think I’m a pushover. I also think some people pity me – I want to show I’m fine. I’m up for a laugh and will try my best.

What will you miss the most?

My children, husband, family and social media! This is the longest I’ve ever been away from my children and that’s going to be really hard. I didn’t know how to face even telling them. I thought the best idea was to say: ‘Mummy is going away for work,’ and that I would see them soon. My family is so close-knit and I will miss them all terribly.

What does your husband think about you taking part?

He thinks I’m going to be good. He’s excited and he’s coming over to Australia to meet me when I come out. What will be your downfall?

I can get hangry! I do love my food. If I lose any weight, I won’t mind. I will put it back on at Christmas anyway!

How would it feel to win?

Obviously I would love to win but you don’t go into this show wanting to. If doing this programme opens doors for me then that would be so exciting.

Who would be your dream campmate?

Jamie Oliver. He’d be able to cook in the camp!
