Stars of The Crown were out in force for the London premiere of the third series.

And as the current cast let down their hair, it was revealed that the Duchess of York has apparently got her sights set on who to play her if she features in a future series. She wants Poldark’s

flame-haired Demelza star Eleanor Tomlinson, 27, to play her younger self. Hollywood actress Julianne Moore, 58, would be her actress of choice to portray her in more current storylines, an insider has revealed.

Taking to the premiere’s red carpet at the Curzon, Olivia Colman, who makes her debut this week as HM the Queen in

The Crown, looked stunning in a classic black fishtail gown.

She joined her on-screen sister Helena Bonham Carter for the glittering event. Helena, who stars as Princess Margaret, wore a quirky Ryan Lo feathered dress.

Joining the pair was Erin Doherty who makes her debut as the Queen’s daughter Princess Anne, and Gillian Anderson who plays the then aspiring politician Margaret Thatcher.

The Durrells star Josh O’connor, who looks the part as a young Prince Charles, was also in attendance along with actor Tobias Menzies, who portrays Prince Philip.

Meanwhile, Oscar winner, Olivia has condemned the ‘evil’ treatment of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Despairing over certain sectors of the media being ‘mean’ to Harry and Meghan, she said: ‘It’s just evil. They’re mean to them. Everything they do – they step outside their house – and it’s something. I don’t know why they’re so mean to a fellow human being. It always strikes me as odd.’ She also supported the couple’s decision to spend Christmas away from the rest of the royal family [turn the page], saying: ‘Everyone wants a little Christmas on their own every now and again, it’s all right.’

Olivia hasn’t met the Sussexes yet, but did have an encounter with the Duke of Cambridge which ‘didn’t go very well’ after he said he doesn’t watch The Crown. She said: ‘I met Prince William at a dinner and he asked what I was doing at the moment, before he quickly added, “Actually, I know what you’re doing.” I was so excited and asked, “Have you watched it?” His answer was a firm, “No”.’
