She might be more of a gin and Dubonnet drinker herself, but the Queen is producing sparkling wine from Windsor Castle. With an aroma of “toasted brioche, lemon and apricot”, the bubbly chardonnay-based blend was a sell-out when first launched three years ago (£35). Wine retailer Laithwaite’s is responsible for reviving Henry II’S original vineyard on a three-acre plot.
