LIZ HURLEY CELEBRATES THE ‘GOOD, WONDERFUL MEMORIES’ OF EX STEVE BING FOLLOWING THE NEWS THAT HE HAD TAKEN HIS OWN LIFE
She acknowledged that they’d experienced “some tough times” over the years, but following the death of her former partner Steve Bing, Liz Hurley paid tribute to the businessman on Instagram, describing him as a “sweet, kind man”.
Sharing a series of images of the pair together, Liz wrote, “I am saddened beyond belief that my ex Steve is no longer with us. It is a terrible end.
“Our time together was very happy and I’m posting these pictures because although we went through some tough times, it’s the good, wonderful memories of a sweet, kind man that matter.”
It was confirmed by a coroner that Steve had taken his own life aged 55 amid claims he had fallen from his apartment. Steve and Liz started a relationship in 2000 and she welcomed their now 18-yearold son Damian in 2002. The former couple became locked in a paternity dispute when Steve cast doubts over whether or not he was the father, until a DNA test confirmed he was.
But concluding her heartfelt message, Liz, 55, revealed the pair had grown close over the past year and had last spoken on Damian’s 18th birthday in April. She added, “This is devastating news and I thank everyone for their lovely messages.”
Friends and fans flooded the comments with messages of support, including presenter Trinny Woodall – whose former partner Johnny Elichaoff took his own life in 2014.
Liz’s son Damian also shared an emotional message on his Instagram page, writing, “Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone that has reached out following the devastating news. I’m trying to reply to as many of you as I can, but please know I will always remember your kindness. This is a very strange and confusing time and I’m immensely grateful to be surrounded by my phenomenal family and friends.”
Steve was also father to 21-year-old daughter Kira Kerkorian, who he shared with tennis star Lisa Bonder, 54. Speaking after the news of his death, Lisa revealed she had been in contact with Liz and they had vowed to unite to support his two children – who are both set to inherit their real estate heir father’s fortune. “It is a tough time for them.
Liz and I are as one on that,” she explained.
