PORTHGWARRA COVE

-

This secluded rocky cove on the county’s southerly tip is where we saw a topless Poldark emerge from the sea after an early morning swim, while Demelza watched secretly from the clifftop above. Nearby is the Porthgwarra Café, where the Poldark cast and crew filled up on Cornish pasties. Just east from there are the golden sands of Porthcurno beach, which was one of the locations for Poldark’s fictional Nampara Cove. Base yourself at Sail Lofts, 12 nautical-style apartments in the harbour town of St Ives, which were used by fishermen in the 18th and 19th centuries to dry nets and sails.
