ALZHEIMER’S SOCIETY’S TOP 5 WELLBEING TIPS
GARDENING
Gardening can be a good way to stay active and look after your wellbeing. Gardens are usually peaceful spaces, and research suggests that tending to them can help to reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety.
If you don’t have your own garden, you might find that an allotment or just visiting a green open space on a regular basis could help your emotional wellbeing.
WALKING
It’s widely known that exercise can improve your physical and mental health. Studies show that walking can help reduce anxiety and depression and boost self-esteem
You could even sign up for an Alzheimer’s Society Memory Walk. From July to October, complete your own Memory Walk and help the Alzheimer’s Society be there to support anyone affected by dementia, whoever they are and whatever they are going through. Sign up for free at memorywalk. org.uk.
GET ENOUGH SLEEP
Sleep is important for our overall wellbeing. It allows our bodies to recuperate and our brains to process information. A lack of sleep can affect both your physical and mental health. For example, tiredness can affect your mood by causing irritability and may reduce your ability to cope with stress.
PRACTISE MINDFULNESS
Focusing on your breathing and being present in the moment can help you feel calm and have a positive impact on your wellbeing.
