PRODUCER AND DJ JONAS BLUE ON HIS LOVE SPLIT, FAMOUS FRIEND LIAM PAYNE AND HIS BATTLE WITH OCD

You may not know what Jonas Blue looks like, but you’re sure to know what he sounds like. The producer, whose real name is Guy Robin, has worked with everyone from Liam Payne to Rita Ora.

Behind the scenes, he prefers to swap the lifestyle of an international DJ for a cuppa and a few episodes of Only Fools And Horses at his Epping Forest home.

The 30-year-old recently split from his girlfriend of three years Melinda London, but he admits he hasn’t ruled out getting back together with the stunning model.

Here, he talks heartbreak and why he’s not broody... yet!

It has often been reported that

was about Liam’s split from Cheryl. Is that the case?

It wasn’t about Liam’s relationship with Cheryl as I’d written Polaroid a year earlier when Liam and Cheryl were still together. The song actually stemmed from a Polaroid that I had of me and my girlfriend.

Does Liam’s two-year-old son Bear make you feel broody?

I haven’t met Bear, but Liam has shown me pictures of him and he’s super cute. I’d love to be a dad at some point, but I’ve got some more living to do first. I can’t even have a dog, let alone a family.

You’ve been open about suffering with OCD. Has lockdown affected it in any way?

Lockdown has made my OCD worse. I’ve got my vinyl stored in a specific order and even when it comes to knives and forks they all have to be facing the right way. It makes me feel calmer. I’ve been on my own during lockdown. I’m no longer with my girlfriend, which is tough, but my life as a DJ and producer can be pretty solitary, so I’m used to my own company.

She’s back home in Germany, but we speak all the time. She’s super proud and happy of what I’ve achieved, but it was tough trying to make it work. She had to fly out to see me wherever I was. It’s sad that things didn’t work out, but I haven’t ruled out getting back with Melinda.

Does your global success ever surprise you?

I never expected this level of fame. Only a couple of years ago I was making music in my dad’s garage and now I’m flying all over the world. To be able to release music is something I never take for granted. At one point I was having to pinch myself to check it was real. I even considered running around my garden naked. I didn’t!

Would you ever consider being a talent show judge?

I got asked to audition for the role of a judge on the season of X Factor that featured Louis Tomlinson. I met Simon Cowell and it was such a fun audition, but it didn’t work out because I had too many prior commitments. I think it would have been fun. I loved working with Paloma Faith on Mistakes and I think she’s great on The Voice Kids. I’m up for doing a show like that.

Tell us about your new track Naked...

The song is unusual in that it’s from a guy’s perspective of a woman saying she only loves him when they’re naked, which you never really hear. You always hear guys saying that about women – “Let’s get into the bedroom and let’s get naked.”
