YOU HAVE TO BE MENTALLY ILL TO THINK ABOUT SUICIDE
“One in five people have thought about suicide at some time in their life, according to the Samaritans. I wanted to kill myself,” reveals Emma. “As soon as my dad took his life, killing myself is all I dreamt of for about two weeks. I didn’t do it because I have kids and I felt resentful. But the fact is, I wanted to kill myself even though I’d never thought about suicide and haven’t since. I didn’t want to deal with the grief, it was horrendous. Everybody has moments in their life where they think, ‘I can’t do this any more, I don’t want to carry on.’ When you experience grief, you should actually stick with those feelings and work through them, as opposed to trying to escape from them.”
