Oscar winner JOAQUIN PHOENIX and his fiancée ROONEY MARA have named their newborn son after the actor’s late brother RIVER. Fellow actor River (above right), who starred in films such as Stand By Me, died in 1993 at the age of 23 outside a Hollywood nightclub following an accidental drugs overdose.

Director VICTOR KOSSAKOVSKY revealed the news at the 2020 Zurich Film Festival at a screening of the documentary Gunda, on which Joaquin was an executive producer. The 45-year-old won an Academy Award earlier this year for his portrayal of Arthur Fleck in Joker. Joaquin and Rooney, 35, (below) met in 2013 on the set of their film Her.
