The Duchess of cambridge revealed to her social media followers that she had received her first dose of the vaccine

-

Days after her husband Prince William sent fans into a flurry of excitement when he revealed his toned bicep while getting the coronavirus vaccine, Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, shared that she’d also received her first dose.

Looking relaxed in a ribbed white H&M top and blue light wash jeans, Kate posted a photo of the experience alongside the caption, “Yesterday I received my first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine at London’s Science Museum. I’m hugely grateful to everyone who is playing a part in the rollout – thank you for everything you are doing.”

Receiving the jab 10 days after her husband, Kate’s vaccine was administered by NHS staff and came after the programme was rolled out to the over-thirties.

However, it’s not clear why Kate, 39, only received her jab on 28 May, as those aged 38 and 39 were invited for a vaccine on 12 May. Which type of vaccine William and Kate received is also unknown.

The couple have been huge supporters of frontline

NHS workers during the pandemic and have thrown their support behind the vaccination programme. It’s a matter close to their hearts after William revealed he had struggled to breathe when he was struck down by Covid-19 during April of last year. The duke kept his diagnosis private at the time because he didn’t want to alarm the nation. He was treated by palace doctors and followed government guidelines by isolating at his and Kate’s family home, Anmer Hall in Norfolk.

His father Prince Charles, 72, also caught coronavirus and was treated in March 2020. Months later, he revealed that while he had “got away with it quite lightly”, he was yet to regain his sense of taste or smell.

In February, William, 38, spoke out against the misinformation about Covid-19 vaccinations that had been circulating on social media. In a video call with clinically vulnerable women who were shielding, he said, “Catherine and I are not medical experts by any means, but we can wholeheartedly support having vaccinations.”

Meanwhile, last week was also a cause for celebration as 2 June marked the anniversary of the Queen’s coronation. It was also revealed that as 2022 will mark 70 years of the monarch on the throne, the British public will be treated to a four-day bank holiday weekend from Thursday 2 June until Sunday 5 June, with the late May bank holiday moving to 2 June to allow the extended break.
