OK! life lessons

The Eastenders actress and former strictly come dancing star, 43, on her passion for cars and her idea of The perfect lazy sunday

-

Not a lot of people know this, but I’m very good at…

twisting my arms so they can face the other way! If I put my hands down I can twist them and they can rotate. It is really unattractive and it’s horrible but I do a little dance with them!

My perfect evening is…

having a lovely meal with my friends and family. There will be some nice wine and good conversation. Spending time with my loved ones is everything.

The best thing that my parents taught me was…

They’ve always said, “You must be nice and kind to people on your way up because you meet them on the way back down.” It’s true and it’s a lesson that’s been instilled in me forever. It’s nice to speak to everybody in the way you would like to be spoken to and treated.

The one thing I’d change about myself is…

I do think about other people a bit too much. I think sometimes you need to at least give yourself a bit of self-care. It’s equally as important as caring for other people.

The first record I ever bought was…

Mickey by Toni Basil. No regrets!

My favourite vehicle is…

I am a bit of a petrolhead and I love cars. I love going to all those car shows and classic car conventions. I really like vintage classic cars.

The shop I can’t walk past is…

God, there are too many to choose from! Probably a cake shop or definitely any department store. I’m a sucker for John Lewis.

My perfect Sunday is…

a lovely lazy morning. I’d have tea or coffee in bed, and then maybe have some scrambled eggs on toast. I would walk the dog, then come back and watch a boxset.

My last holiday was…

I took my parents on a lovely vacation recently to Dartmouth in Devon. It was gorgeous. The weather wasn’t great, but it was so nice to get away from it all. It is a beautiful part of the world. I loved it. It’s really made me think there are so many gorgeous places on our doorstep.

I’m currently reading…

The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen. It’s so good. I’m halfway through already. It’s a clever thriller which is quite thrilling.

My favourite thing to bake is…

Well, I’m not the best baker. But I can manage cupcakes. I love a plain Victoria sponge with plenty of buttercream and chocolate sweeties on top. I always try to make them look pretty. It’s why I enjoy Cupcake Day.
