We are all proud of junior – he’s a lovely young man

Our Columnist on her recent family holiday and a month full of Celebrations

We were so grateful to get out to Portugal when we did as foreign travel isn’t looking likely for a while now. Luckily, we planned it so we were flying back before the amber list came in anyway as the kids had to get back to school.

I saw pictures of Faro airport looking really chaotic, but for us getting home went very smoothly.

Now we’re back, the rest of June is a busy month full of celebrations. It’s Father’s Day this weekend, so I’ll be making sure Pete is treated to breakfast in bed and the kids make him some cards. I’ll also bake him a cake and cook him a nice meal as he loves his food! We keep things like this simple and the kids also tend to give homemade gifts, which I think is really sweet.

At the time of writing this, it’s also Junior’s 16th birthday in a few days. This age can be tricky, but Junior has turned into such a lovely young man. He is very appreciative of the things he has in life, although I’m sure one thing he doesn’t appreciate all the time is me and his dad nagging, but I do think we cut him a bit of slack! We are all very proud of him. June is also Pride Month. I’ve never been to Pride but it’s actually on my list of things I’d love to do as it looks like so much fun. A few friends of ours have been asking me to go for a while, so it’s definitely something I’m going to do one day. I love that it’s about people coming together to celebrate love and equality because that is so important.
