‘I HAVE FIVE DAYS OF BEING GOOD AND TWO OF WHATEVER I LIKE’

SINGER AND BRITAIN’S GOT TALENT JUDGE ALESHA DIXON REVEALS HER TIPS AND TRICKS FOR LOOKING AND FEELING HER BEST

- Words: Lynne Hyland alesha is the founder of nobleblu supplements, £25-40 each at nobleblu.com

Alesha Dixon isn’t the first celebrity to side step into the wellness business, but we can’t think of anyone whose energy we’d want to bottle more. The singer and TV star looks at least a decade younger than her 42 years, and is remarkably perky for a woman with two young children, Azura, seven, and Anaya, 22 months.

However, Alesha is a woman who combines her beauty with brains. She’s just created her own wellbeing brand, Nobleblu, and speaks like a true lifestyle guru when she’s outlining the vision behind it. She’s articulate and passionate but without being preachy. Well, when you’ve got that raucous laugh, you can’t take life too seriously...

Are you hoping to be the UK’S answer to Gwyneth Paltrow?

Well, I’m not saying that! [Laughs] I’m just passionate about wellness and helping people. So it was a no-brainer to set up in an area where I genuinely feel I have a lot to say. I’ve had many times in my life where I’ve felt overwhelmed, stressed and irritable, and I don’t like that. I like the energised, calm, kind feeling I get when I’m taking care of myself, not only from supplements but from food, exercise and mindfulness. All of those things contribute to me being a better person.

Tell us about Nobleblu supplements…

There are five in the range – for beauty, immunity, energy, balance and focus. It’s all about tuning in to what the body needs and fuelling it in the right way so it can thrive. The way I look at it, beauty is a little bit of this and a little bit of that. I take my supplements, I eat well, I drink a lot of water and go to bed at a reasonable hour Monday to Friday. I can 100% tell the difference with my skin, hair and nails when I’m consistently doing those things.

Have you become a health zealot?

I think it’s important to say that working in wellness doesn’t mean you’re someone who doesn’t like to have wine or coffee or banana bread. I like all of those things, I’ve just learnt to do it all in moderation now.

How do you get that balance right?

I have Monday to Friday as my time to work hard, stay focused, eat well and work out.

But weekends, I’m up late, having a drink and eating what I want. That works out well for me. Five days of good, two days of whatever!

What’s your skincare routine?

I make sure I thoroughly clean my face. I use a serum and a moisturiser every day – I love Sisley Black Rose Skin Infusion Cream. Then at night I’ll do the same and I also mix in Omorovicza Miracle Facial Oil. And I do a face mask a couple of times a week.

Does this mean you’re into anti-ageing?

I’m mindful of the fact that I’m in my forties and I’m making a conscious effort with my skincare regime. It used to just be a face wipe and cream, and that’s not working for me any more. I’m not trying to reverse time but when you get to my age, you can’t get away with

the things you could when you were 20.

You have two children but they don’t seem to have aged you…

Oh, my children have definitely aged me – but they’ve also been the making of me, so I can’t be too negative about them!

Would you ever have any invasive skin treatments?

Right now, fortunately, that’s not something I’m thinking about. I’m quite happy with how I am, but I never want to rule anything out.

What are your hair essentials?

One would have to be Tresemmé Keratin Smooth Mask, which is amazing. When I’ve not had my hair heat-styled I’ll just mask up overnight, then rinse it out the next day.

What are your make-up favourites?

I love Tom Ford foundations, Charlotte Tilbury eyeshadow palettes and a classic MAC lip liner in Spice. Huda Beauty lip glosses are amazing and I’ve just bought some Fenty Gloss Bombs, they’re unbelievable.

When did you feel your most beautiful?

In terms of feeling fabulous, it would be when I had a Julien Macdonald dress custom-made for the Britain’s Got Talent final. It was like a piece of art and I felt really special that night. But I felt really beautiful when I was pregnant with Azura – my hair was thick, my nails were

strong, I had that pregnancy glow and I just loved looking at my belly.

How do you define beauty?

I think beauty is more about who you are and how you feel, versus the superficial aspect of it. Which, of course, we all love because we want to look good but essentially those things are temporary and the only thing that really counts is being a kind person.

Is that a message you want to pass on to your daughters?

I think it’s my job to make sure they understand that beauty is so much deeper than the exterior. We live in a very shallow kind of society, particularly on social media, and it’s a rabbit hole we all fall into now and then. You have to pull yourself away from that and get perspective on what’s important in life.

Do you try to keep it real on social media?

I don’t feel a slave to it and I don’t feel I have to pretend to be something I’m not. The only thing that ever works for anyone is to be true to who you are.

Are you happy for people to see the real, unedited you?

Listen, I love a filter, but we all know when someone’s using one. We have to just have fun with it. In the morning when you look tired and you need to film something, then a filter is great! I love retouched images but you’ve still got to find that place in yourself where you’re happy being you.
